I saw two farangs getting in a taxi yesterday with no mask.  They must have felt so proud and so liberated.  Was one of them you by any chance?

Extremely rude, selfish and inconsiderate of them.

Coincidence?  I happily stopped wearing my mask as soon as the mandate was lifted.  Yesterday, I tested positive for Covid! ????????

And tonight, on the ARL, busy Friday night, every single person wearing a mask apart from one freedom fighter farang.  Absolutely disgraceful,  Read the room muppet!  The Thais looked very uncomfortable but were too polite to say anything directly.  Just so unacceptable.  How can you not see what is around you?  Just terrible cultural insensitivity.

I stopped wearing my mask two weeks ago and the only dirty/uncomfortable looks I got so far were from farangs such as yourself. Maybe you should reflect on that.

Oh I am so giddy to hear you ditched the mask 2 weeks ago, The only dirty looks I see people give foreigners not wearing them are Thai's as their eyes tell the whole story, not sure how you could perceive a dirty look from someone wearing a mask based upon prior comments you have made regarding how masks affect social interactions.  To each his own, it is a personal choice and I accept your choice to do as you wish since the mandate was lifted.

     You can’t prove it’s not. 
I wore the mask religiously from day one when it was suggested, got my first two Covid shots in 2021 as soon as the vaccine became available here, (Pfizer) then in January 2022 got my first booster, Moderna (continuing to mask up), and five days later got sick and tested twice strong positive for Covid, and was sick for two weeks with it.

   Much good the masking up did.  I’m finished with the Obedience now.  I’ll continue to get the shots. But I’m done with the O.F.D.’s 

    I can also tell you about my sister-in-laws brother. A REAL Covid paranoid if there ever was one.  Started masking back when this all began, then double masking with a face shield and wearing those silly blue rubber gloves. Got his shots. 
  And ALSO got Covid anyways.

   There is no way you can prove you got Covid because you stopped wearing the mask.

Vaccines have been created in very short order to try and reduce deaths, they have, get your body prepared if you do catch C19 to deal with it, if it can, but doesn't stop you catching it...

   Was sick for two weeks.  Like a little bit worse than the common cold. Never even slowed me down. I could function just as easily as usual. 
   I’ve had the Flu several times in the past, and the Flu was much much worse.  WAY worse. Totally bed ridden and soaked in sweat from high fever. 
  If you were to tell me that starting tomorrow I had to have either Covid, or the Flu, my choice…..I would say give me Covid. Whatever you do, don’t give me the Flu.

My previous comments on social interactions pertained essentially to children's development which is a different issue.

 

A dirty look is (obviously) mostly in the eyes which are not covered by masks, there is also body language to some extent. I respect Thais and their country and if I perceived any resistance/hostility I would readily put it back on. My Thai wife would also tell me if it was a problem but she confirmed it was "up to me".

Many Thais hate the masks as much as many farangs but feel they have to wear it to not 'look dirty' in the eyes of judgmental people, that's what I'm hearing from the wife and those of friends here.

There have been different types of C19, I would suggest each would affect folk differently. Same as flu....

I enjoyed not wearing a mask when I was in the UK, and enjoy not wearing one here if I am walking down the street.  But are you saying the guy wasn't a jerk by being the only one on a busy train carriage that wasn't wearing one?  Especially considering the rules say you should.  I maintain he was an considerate jerk, not someone exercising their "freedom".   Up to you.

There are still countries where masks are mandatory on public transportation, and for good reason. It's insane how many people are still diying from COVID or being left with serious long-term effects after recovering from infection. Pretending it isn't happening won't make things better.

Yes, and they are very much in minority. At least in Europe it is roughly 5 countries masking vs. 45 not doing it.

The doctors and trained scientists don’t even agree with each other, and to top it off they kept changing their minds ever since this thing escaped from the lab. 
   Mask, no mask, mask indoors but not outdoors, mask outdoors, stay home, get the shot you won’t get the virus.
       Get one shot…get two shots.   Oh..sorry now you need a booster…… sorry again two boosters…..three.. four…..   oh sorry… now a booster every nine months for the rest of your life.    Double mask is best…. N-95 mask is best…and don’t forget your face shield on top of it.
