DES: We're fighting to keep Thailand's youth away from pornographic material

The spokeswoman for the DES or Digital Economy and Society Ministry that monitors the internet in Thailand said that everything was being done to protect young people from online pornography.

 

Noppawan Huajaiman said that this was a concern of Thai PM Prayuth Chan-ocha who cares passionately about the nation's youngsters, reported Siam Rath.

 

So the DES were monitoring the situation closely, following up on parental complaints, giving advice and ensuring that the law was followed to the letter.

 

She said that court orders can be obtained to remove obscene content and offenders can be jailed for five years and get 100,000 baht fines under 2007 legislation.

 

But she also said that parents can and should complain to platforms when they see obscene material.

 

In most cases such material was against their own rules and they would remove it without action needed by the DES.

 

The DES can be contacted on 1212 or on Facebook or their website 24/7. 

 

ASEAN NOW notes that the DES are widely ridiculed by critics around the world who say they are toothless and manned by people who haven't a clue as to how the internet actually works. 

 

Bans on certain people and sites are easily circumvented using simple tricks.

 

Tricks that young people are sometimes more familiar with than the so called experts at the DES.

WHY? Anyone 60 years old or younger has had access to porn videos when a teenager. Why try to stop it for today's youth? Although there are times when watching porn can cause individuals to become worse humans, I would argue that in most cases it enables young men to release internal pressure and get on with the rest of their day.

Forbidden things will only attrack more people..... Just test it by putting a button somewhere with the sign don't push it and with a hidden camera look how mny people are pushing the button. So pornography is not for youth indeed, but start with a good education instead of keep your mouth shut about sex, because that will result in that children/young ones will surf on the internet to look for answers and see things that are not answers but exceptions

Here is a Thai lawmaker in parliament (source Thailand MP caught watching porn in Parliament) gobbling up all that internet porn, so there won't be anything left for the youngsters - just fightin' the good fight:

They don't even know their own history where women did not even have to wear tops until 1941  when Thai Gov was overthrown by a Thai General who alighned with  the Japanese and did,'t want thailand to come off as uncivilized.  Look at old temples that even depict women topless or naked.

About the only porn prosecuted is homegrown porn made in Thailand. The lions share they can’t touch.  But there are plantyof sexy thai youth who want something stronger than TikTok sexy vids to watch. 

DES is unable to do squat without someone complaining and often it appears it is competitors ‘dropping the dimes’ to remove better product. And open their market share.

 

This is just as useless as pretending only married folks have sex with their spouses in Thailand.
