Nearly one in three Americans say it may soon be necessary to take up arms against the government

I do not pretend to have "The Answer", but I am certain that the justified frustration/anger built up within the American working middle class is a powder keg. I believe this as the result of the long term policies of both the Republican and Democrat Parties. The economic squeeze has been allowed to progress too long. It has lead to the current shredding of the fabric of American society. I had said in the past, that the madness will continue unless/until the issue is progressively forcefully addressed. Raise the minimum wage, institute a national healthcare program, extend the US Public School model for an additional two years of higher education, protect the earned Social Security/Medicare retirement benefits of the working middle class. Here are moderate steps that can be taken immediately to give hope and allow more income to be retained in the working middle class while more serious steps are debated and passed by Congress. Those in power positions, in Congress or business ... move forcefully and quickly for you have brought the USA to the brink of utter destruction by your thinking and action/inaction. Trump was supported because he gave voice to this frustration/anger. A minority storming the capital and trying to overthrow the current system is a result of this frustration/anger. Continue your base political maneuvering, your delaying addressing the major issue and you have lost the USA for all of us. Already, the USA is being reduced to "leading" only in military power. A very sad note indeed!!!

Well said! Or just move to Thailand.

1 in 3 say its time to take up arms against the govt. now while Biden is president because the brainwashed cult IS the 1 in 3. If their dear cult leader was back in office those numbers would not exist

As I read the poll result it is only 1 in 3 people who voted. That is NOT necessarily 1 in 3 people in the USA.

I gave up believing in polls years ago, as I figure that you start with the answer that you want, and adjust the questions to the target audience that will give you the result that you want.

Really? Trump tried that 63 times screaming about rigged polls.

He failed every time.

I could be wrong and I am sure that you will provide the links to prove it.

Why bring this to Trump?

When I quoted the op I was thinking of elections in general... African elections, Thai elections etc...

Personally I hate the way politics are played and I dislike politicians. Both Biden and Trump suck and the aggression I saw on the news over the last few years makes me want to throw up.

But it is specifically about the USA and the poll result, Please keep to the thread and stop deflecting.

If you were talking about elections worldwide then say so.

Any excuse to give those automatic weapons and airing.????

That is OK on unarmed people and school children. It will certainly be difficult when the people you are shooting at, shoot back with bigger and better weapons.

Say's whom?  Really.  Whoever is playing this card has ulterior motives.

Most Americans want to be left alone to pursue the American Dream.  Then perhaps their are a 1/3 out there who want to destroy America and everything America stands for.

You haven’t been paying much attention then, have you? Not a day goes by that the man isn’t complaining to someone somewhere about the stolen elections. Just read what he’s been spouting on ‘truth social’, his very own twitter. Every rally that he’s spoken at, he brings it up. Sickening.

That "Truth social" is only available in USA and Canada and I have never been to either of those Countries

Where does Trump do that ?

I haven't heard much from him since dynamic Joe took over

He continues to make the claims on a regular basis. To be honest I don't think even many of his most ardent supporters by it now. Except for some on this site.

From BBC site 3 days ago for example:

Trump and Pence host rival rallies in Arizona - BBC News

Mr Trump spoke at an event for Kari Lake who backs his false claims about election fraud.

At her rally on Friday in the central Arizona town of Prescott Valley, Ms Lake, a former TV news journalist, told supporters that "rigged elections" would no longer be accepted.

She was followed on stage by Mr Trump, who told the crowd that "the election was rigged and stolen and now our country is being systematically destroyed because of it".

Sad

You haven't listed anything to support your absurd allegation that the US army is socialist. You fit an aspect of the army into your assumptions about socialism. And your patronising nonsense about not being able to help me blah blah blah. Classic deflection. Your assumptions are leading you up a completely blind alley.

Heaven forbid, nothing about the USA army could never be socialist, could it? Because everything about socialism is bad and evil, and the USA army is righteous and protecting freedom around the world.

LOL, you think asserting your opinion makes it so? Classic begging the question.

How does having free housing, clothing, dental care, medical care, education and pensions make the American military any different from a socialist country? Those are facts, not assumptions.

I have yet to see any explanation from you as to why the American military is different.

You are attacking my proposition without bringing any countervailing evidence, parroting the adjective absurd doesn't cut it.

Fascism was invented by Mussolini a socialist.

He was socialist until 1920. Excluded from the Socialist party in 1914, he definitely broke with socialist ideology in 1920,  From 1920, his fascist movement was allied with right-wing parties and has been consistently ant i-socialist, anti-communist and anti-trade union.

NB. Trump was initially Democrat. Actually, Mussolini seems to be a good role model for Trump (I mean also the personality aspect)

What will that achieve - now that the Democrats have figured out that they can just steal the elections?

Do you have evidence of that?  We'd love to see it.  Trump would like to see it to, he can't come up with any.

You would prefer an equally senile confirmer serial liar loser who used to be the POTUS?

It's sad that you think it has to be one or the other.

The US deserves better than Biden or Trump.

It's like deciding whether to be bitten by a Python (Trump, not pleasant but you can survive) or a Viper (Biden, looks less threatening but actually deadly).

Of course Trump is less decrepit than Biden but they are both substandard. Both woeful in fact.

A pathetic state of affairs for what used to be a good country.

Sad to watch for a Brit like me who grew up admiring the USA.

Mussolini founded and led the National Fascist Party.

How did you determine that he was a socialist?

I know because Wikipedia told me.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benito_Mussolini

Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini (Italian: [beˈniːto aˈmilkare anˈdrɛːa mussoˈliːni];[1] 29 July 1883 – 28 April 1945) was an Italian politician and journalist who founded and led the National Fascist Party. He was Prime Minister of Italy from the March on Rome in 1922 until his deposition in 1943, and "Duce" of Italian Fascism from the establishment of the Italian Fasces of Combat in 1919 until his execution in 1945 by Italian partisans. As dictator of Italy and principal founder of fascism, Mussolini inspired and supported the international spread of fascist movements during the inter-war period.[2][3][4][5][6]

Mussolini was originally a socialist politician and a journalist at the Avanti! newspaper. In 1912, he became a member of the National Directorate of the Italian Socialist Party (PSI),[7] but he was expelled from the PSI for advocating military intervention in World War I, in opposition to the party's stance on neutrality.

But you do know the government has a large army, drones, tanks, warplanes, tactical nuclear weapons... Plus 2 in 3 of the civilian population who do not want to take up arms. I don't see it going well from an outsiders' perspective....

Right, this is from fantasists, gun fondlers.

I would like to see the average angry gun owner try and take on Seal Team 6.
