The latest Miss Universe Thailand, 23-year-old Anna Suengam-iam, was born into a family of garbage collectors.

 

She was crowned Miss Universe Thailand 2022 in the final of the pageant late last night (Saturday). She will represent Thailand at Miss Universe 2022.

 

She unashamedly told the Thai media that both her parents worked as Bangkok Metropolitan Administration garbage collectors and that most of her toys as a child were salvaged from garbage and repaired by her parents.

 

She said that she did not have the chance to play like other kids, because her parents normally left home at 3am to work and returned home at 7pm to sleep.

Why anyone should be ashamed of their parents job ?

 

At least they were/are working and able to provide for the needs of their daughter

 

When it comes to "salvage" toys, one would be amazed by the quantity and the quality of the items thrown in the garbage every day.

 

That story might have made sensation decades ago but nowadays, with internet .....

There's always got to be one, hasn't there?   She's not here to be judged by you.

There's nothing  Thai left of her from all the plastic surgery! The nose , eyebrows,  whitening of the skin etc etc. You could easily replace her with every other contestants in these pageants and wouldn't notice the difference.  I don't usually bashed or critique on these topics,  but it would be nice to see a contestant without all the " extras" just for once.

He gave his opinion on her look, nothing wrong with his opinion. You don't have to agree with it. It's a public forum the last time I checked. Just like you gave your thoughts on his post. She entered a public pageant knowing the whole contest is about " judging" therefore she is going to be judged by selected judges or anyone that wishes to critique.

Yeah this is that effect at its extreme. She could be Polish.

She really don't look Thai...maybe had some plastic surgery?  And the news article says she was pretty much dirt poor and ate donated food....but still had money to fund a college education/bachelor degree?   Her life story may not be as destitute as it's being told in the press.

Here we go.  Yeah, it's all made up, she was actually born with a silver spoon in her mouth.  You're such a super sleuth!  What's wrong with some people??

If you bother to read the full story before making such a comment you will see she has entered and won several beauty competitions over the years so presumably there was prize money.  Also, perhaps - shock horror - she worked to pay for her education!??  

In the article there is also a picture of her with her grandmother who adopted her and there is clearly no wealth there, but well done you.  (The same picture also has Anna at her graduation where IMO she is infinitely more beautiful pre-cosmetic surgery, but who am I to judge).  Well done to her, smart lady.  And shame on you for trying to dig dirt for absolutely no reason.

When I taught at Mahidol, I met a taxi driver who had two daughters graduate from MU. One was a teacher and the other an engineer. Right now, my housekeeper is working three jobs to help prepare and put her grandson through college. 

There are NO reasons not to be successful, only excuses.

I don't necessarily disagree that this always happens on these threads. But this one really takes the cake. If there's one time that it really is true, its this time.

I think that the reason these girls get cosmetic surgery is that they know what wins these pageants.

The natural look is not what beauty pageant judges are looking for apparently.

What do these women go on to do?

Modeling? Acting?

I suppose it opens some doors but I don't really know.

IQ means nothing.  Ability to learn has nothing to do with being able to think & do.

 

Desire & motivation is all it takes.  Test out a few good idea and you're on your way.

ok, so he's young, earning a few hundred bht a day. Family has no assets ...what exactly do you mean? Can you give a concrete example of a way he can be successful?

 

Also, you are also staing that everyone has the ability to think. where do you live to reach that conclusion?

The very basic things;  can he cut grass, trim bushes ... then he's on his way to a landscaping business.  Pressure washer ... a service many need (mold/fungus removal) but many don't do/buy one, and hire out, or get a worker to scrub a dub with brush, bleach mixture & a hose.

 

2 easy low cost / overhead ventures to get into.  

 

Work for a tradesman till he learns the craft, now a self employed (part time) craftsman, until develop his own self sustaining customer base.

 

You don't need major education, paperwork/diplomas ... just ambition.  

 

AND NO EXCUSES
