Not really "a cover up" They wanted to tell her Family first before making the news public . That is the protocol in the U.K to inform the family first before making the news public . Also the media outlets needed to prepare themselves first to make a formal announcement , rather than being just the latest headline news

It's the suggestion that the games would need to be cancelled (as opposed to minute's silence) this weekend that has me a little riled. Normal folks plan (and shell out cash) in advance to travel to games, and the passing of a major celebrity figure (yes, even the Queen) should not be reason enough to cancel them. Cancelled : "At a meeting this morning, Premier League clubs paid tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. To honour her extraordinary life and contribution to the nation, and as a mark of respect, this weekend’s Premier League match round will be postponed, including Monday evening’s game. Richard Masters, Premier League Chief Executive, said: “We and our clubs would like to pay tribute to Her Majesty’s long and unwavering service to our country. "As our longest-serving monarch, she has been an inspiration and leaves behind an incredible legacy following a life of dedication. "This is a tremendously sad time for not just the nation but also for the millions of people around the world who admired her, and we join together with all those in mourning her passing.” Further updates regarding Premier League fixtures during the period of mourning will be provided in due course." 1

The Duke of Sussex was originally scheduled to attend the WellChild Awards in London on Thursday, which celebrates the inspirational qualities of seriously ill children and young people in the United Kingdom. Harry canceled an appearance at the charity awards ceremony in London to fly to Scotland in the wake of fellow royals who have also travelled to Aberdeenshire, PA reported. He is on his way to Balmoral separately from other royals but has been in coordination with other family members' plans, a spokesperson for the Sussexes told CNN earlier on Thursday. https://www.cnn.com/uk/live-news/queen-elizabeth-health-concerns-intl-gbr/index.html What happened to her hands? I guess we'll have to see if he actually has the ceremony or not. It would cost a lot of money for him to become king ( bank notes, stationary etc ) and would likely be only a few years. William is the better choice, and he's popular as well, but I always doubted it was going to change as long as she was alive. Never thought of that ,a lot of people still remember Diana ,and Cammiler as a Royal Consort ,some people still will not accept her . RIP our Brenda (anyone read Private Eye). For example, I understand there is a lot of fuss about 'Harry' and 'Megan'. I have no idea who they are, though I have a notion that Harry is a son of Charles and married a black woman. Whatever. I just don't care anymore than I do about a discarded banana peel. However, I am upset about the Queen who I consider to be a woman of integrity and honour. May her soul rest in peace. I respect the queen and hope that the others will respect the new monarch. Will be interesting to see how big her funeral is. It will be a celebration that will be shown around the World with most leaders from around the world coming to the Funeral. All the Pomp and ceremony will be televised as only us Brits can do no one can come close to do what we are best at. After all our Monarchy has seen it and done it for over a thousand years and will be carried on for the next thousand years Rule Britannia. Someone posted the phrase "London Bridge Has Fallen " this is true and is the codeword used for the Death of the Queen most details for her funeral will already be in place the Queen knew what the codeword was for.
Popular Post DaveE13
RIP To Her Majesty. We supplied extra security at St.Barts hospital when Phillip was dying. It was mainly to keep papz and other NHS staff away from the 6th floor where Phillip was. Of course at that point there was nothing that could of been done. So he was taken back to the private hospital and allowed home. A few days later the Queen wanted to go to Barts to thank the staff for all they done. There was no press around no pomp. Just her and her staff. That was the class of the lady. RIP Maam 1
BarraMarra
21 hours ago, James105 said: Not really. People (who have a lot less money than the royal family) buy tickets/accommodation in advance to travel to sporting events at the weekend and I do not see why they should lose money/lose out because a celebrity figure has passed. The traditional way that respect is paid is a minutes silence (or applause) at the start of games and the wearing of black armbands. I do not see why this should be any different. Its down to the governing bodies who run Sports from Rugby to Football. The rugby league board looked at the regulations and decided if the clubs were happy and respectful they would carry on with all this weekend's Matches and Televised games.
