Yes, but...

IMHO especially older people, including myself, are not used to lots of different emojis and stickers and thumbs whatever.

Some time ago I had a couple of LINE conversations with some girls. Sometimes, when I asked a question, I received an emoji as an answer. But what did it mean?

I learned today that this forum editor has an emoji button. Then a long list of emojis comes up. And we can even search by text for the emoji versions of i.e. "rolling eyes".

But when we read posts there is no reverse translation. I.e. what do those icons mean? ???? ???? ????  I have no idea!

A few thumbs up or down or laugh are easy to understand. But for many of them we, or at least I, need a dictionary.

The zip is shut up, keep it zipped, be quiet ????OR "my mouth is sealed"

The hat I take to mean "cowboy"

Not sure on the third one,  sorry.

I didn't really expect an explanation.

But just in case I looked it up in this editor.

That's what it is described here:

So to avoid any problems I guess I shouldn't use that with any girl. Otherwise she might think I want to tell her "shut up, keep it zipped, be quiet" ...

I've got a collection of "confused " emojis on the God thread, i guess more than 100 from someone in 2 years.

At the beginning it felt like I'm being stalked, but after realizing the intellectual depth of the guy, it became like a badge of honour.

Intellectual honesty is disappearing day by day, and I'm not happy about that.

I am sure I put a couple of not so positive emojis on that thread.

Considering that some people still believe in that old man in the sky I am never sure what the best reaction is. But sad, confused or just laughing seems to be most suitable.

Lol, after 3 years you're still going on with the same nonsense.

Perhaps you're one whose views are extremely limited.

Whatever floats your boat then.. until it doesn't.

The god crowd takes lots of their "knowledge" from a 2000-year-old book.

I prefer modern science and there is no reason to believe in god.

But then people like you, who believe in something that doesn't exist, tell me my views are "extremely limited"

What a joke!

When will you start a thread about unicorns, the tooth fairy and maybe easter bunnies?

Lol, i am so sorry that you can't give me confused emojis anymore. ????

This thread has taken on a rather comedic flow lately, not surprising as that is exactly my view, of the sad, confused, and laughing emoji posters

The sad and confused posters I hope manage to climb out of such desperately thought churning situations, now they don't have the opportunity to highlight their challenges with one click

Forums are meant to be fun, plus it is nice to know who agrees with my stance on something, or in fact does not agree....????

In your case, I understand that.

If you only receive sad, confused and laugh emojis, that must be frustrating after a while.

All the best with your recovery from those challenging times.

Is there a minister for emojis that is ruining what's left of fun in this war torn corrupted time ????

All i can say to you is good luck ????

I think the smiley face needs to come back. Many posts are funny and deserve a smile. Giving it one of the symbols available suggests agreement or love rather than amusement. Sometimes it is funny - not necessarily correct as such.

Imagine if any time you told a joke someone said 'I agree' or 'I love that' .. it ain't right.

Could reply to the message with a smile but that's stupid too. They might make a joke on page 2 and my smile appears on page 10. Stop mucking around and bring it back.

I agree, I was a big fan of smiley (laugh/happy), the other 2 don't bother me at all, I'm actually glad they're gone, good ridence.

No more stalking from those weirdos.

Sadly the smileys were being abused by some members.

It's the few bad eggs that spoilt it for everyone.

There was an earlier thread regarding confused emoji's and I thanked AN for removing them.

How on earth do you abuse a smiley emoji or any other asking for a friend who is having his sides stitched up ????

Are we really at a point in life now where people can be offended by emojis?

How do you misuse an emoji? Keep it up too late, not feed it?

What in the heck is happening to society?

These negative reactions, I reckon it's easy to police on AN forums, just need admin. to monitor the strange members, the members that continuly use these reactions, keep an eye on their activity or we could report them, then admin. could give them a warning if these members continued to abused.

I've given out around 10 negative reactions over the years and these were only given to stalkers I had, I soon gave up, I reckon these weirdos like receiving them, giving them pleasure.
