One wonders what drove the forum to abandoned the other 2 emoticons, other than a perceived misuse of the sad or laughing ones.....the Emojis from the top are still available but then if one were to j

why was the laughing emoji ditched? it was the most important one

i always thought it was cowardly for guys to use confused or sad emoticons, just grow some and reply to a comment

So now you say it is OK to use emoji's that you, the "powers that be" have removed from the system, but to do so I have to quote the post and now search for an emoji and then insert it?

Please explain that rational.

One more post increases statistical traffic which is important for potential or existing advertisers. ????

IMO the stalkers are upset because they have lost the officially-sanctioned emojis. Now, they either have to type a response, or use one of their own emojis.

Read the initial posts from moderators. The sad, confused and laugh emojis were removed because they were being abused, and I guess the mods had far more data than the average poster on which to make the decision.

Som nam na, move on.

This is a very good comment, it's brief and to the point.

It's got a thumbs up from me (my first one).

It would probably be the all time AN forum winner for the most negative (sad and confused) reactions if we still had them.

I had a little chuckle, imagining all those emoji's. ????

After many years of posting here, the SAD and CONFUSED has been very handy to make my thought clear, whilst at the same time staying out of trouble with words.....????

But when you reply to a comment you disagree with due to some outrageous generalisation or it just plain dumb the poster gets offended and accuses you of stalking them.

Some guys get so butt hurt its sometimes just easier to post an emoticon thingy than dropping to their level and entering debate with a fool.

That said, do find it amusing when some posters tell others they are going to block-them as if that wins whatever debate they are having...

They used to have a +1 or a -1...  Which seemed to work well.

I think too many people got hurt by the -1 when really posting silly stuff.

yeah the blocking thing is childish, but there are weak people who can't argue a point so just leave a sad or confused emoticon

Are you seriously saying that is how you want members to respond instead of just making the same emoji with one real click?

It ups the post count in a dying forum.

Are ‘we’ as a forum community that immature and thin skinned that we can’t handle negative responses to our posts ??...

There is a certain ‘thin-skinned-ness’ amongst some posters to make dumb comments then get really upset at negative emoticons - are their ego’s really that fragile ?

These same posters also get terribly upset when they receive an response which doesn’t exactly line up to their thinking.

Is the forum protecting the most sensitive element of the membership without recognising that they are their own worst enemies sometimes with the dumb stuff they post ?

Personally i don't care, i never left sad or confused emoticons, maybe sad once or twice for genuine sad posts

There have been folk here that rarely post, just post SAD's, I did have one who stalked me....

Another was so upset at my posts he put a SAD on loads of my posts in one minute, that's OK, no problem, but they were mainly all different threads, an obvious stalk...He knows who he is....????

But, the positives far outweigh the negatives........

I left ‘confused emoticons’ to posts I found completely flawed..... Some so outrageously stupid it was not worth getting dragged down to their level and entering debate.

The ‘negative’ emoticon has a place to highlight disagreement - we don’t all have to agree and if people are so thin-skinned they can’t handle a negative emoticon on an anonymous forum they perhaps have bigger issues to be dealing with.

But, the positives far outweigh the negatives........

I was recently accused of stalking a  member (not you of course)....   It was just because that specifically poster was making utterly ridiculous and pathetic comments - it was easy to debunk and disagree with this comments and claims across various threads.

I type very quickly, so flicking through threads on the lap-top meant I’d responded to a few of his posts on different threads in a short time frame.

I guess some people have fundamentally different opinions - I find that when they are wired so very differently and they are unable to view and discuss a subject with balance, they also get emotional and personal very quickly - that doesn’t bother me, but it upsets that type of character.

Then there are a mature bunch of posters with whom we do not have to agree with all the time.

They leave a ‘disapproving comment' or emoticon on one thread and a positive one on another...  We can’t agree all the time.

But... this is still an anonymous web forum - its always amusing when some people get so upset or try to make it personal - some people get terribly upset when making an outrageously dumb comment and getting called out on it (again, not you of course).... but some people lack the intelligence to response with intelligence and balance and end up going on some sort of revengeful vendetta... these fools can be ignored.

Why would you bother not liking a comment.  I never do or have.

Just move on to the next post.

This is probably why the dislike was removed.

At times I felt like I was being stalked by members with their stupid reactions, confused was the most annoying, why not ask for more information or an explanation instead of a negative emoji.

I do miss the laugh reaction, I regularly read funny comments from members.

Lots of clever members here with funny replies, they always give me a lift after reading all the moaning and negativity.

there never was a dislike emoji, only sad and confused. A DISLIKE would be very useful.

The CONFUSED was confusing as it did not indicate whether the replier or the actual contents of the post were CONFUSED.

I was sometimes left confused as to how the ‘poster’ managed to survive in life given their comments !!!...   :giggle:

You didn't include the OP's comment (are you being silly or antagonizing?), we were in discussion.

Next time I'll send you a PM to include you if you like, let me know.

Not my purpose, it's more to tell them I've had enough of the BS they are posting.

Mind you, some are so thick it's water off a duck's back.
