Judge Raymond Dearie, the special master overseeing the seizure of documents from Mar-a-Lago, signaled on Tuesday to lawyers for former President Donald Trump that if they don’t make a case that any of the documents were declassified, he would determine that they’re classified.

Out of court, Trump has pushed the claim he declassified all the documents, and his lawyers have raised that possibility in court papers, though they have never explicitly argued that anything was declassified.

Federal prosecutors have argued for weeks that documents seized from Mar-a-Lago that contain classification markings – like “top secret” – should be treated as if they are classified.

 

Special master to Trump’s lawyers: ‘You can't have your cake and eat it’

 

Judge Raymond Dearie repeatedly challenged Trump’s lawyers for refusing to back up the former president’s claim that he declassified the highly sensitive national security-related records discovered in his residence.

 

Without evidence from Trump, Dearie said his only basis to judge the classification level of the records was the fact that they all bear markings designating them as highly sensitive national security secrets — including some that indicate they contain intelligence derived from human sources and foreign intercepts.

 

But Dearie bristled at the effort by Trump’s lawyers to resist his request for proof that Trump actually attempted to declassify any of the 100 documents that the Justice Department recovered from his estate.

I feel sorry for all of the people misled by the great snake oil salesman known as the Orangeman.  He has told so many lies that when told over and over again people believe them to be truth.  Well this judge is not putting up with any BS, and this can be observed with his initial assessment of the Trump lawyers attempt at once again playing games.  Trumps attorney's argue that if they give the court what it wants it will lay bare there defense of the Orangeman.  You can not have your cake and eat it to. They tried this route to block the DOJ and FBI of continuing in building the case against Trump and his aides, but at the same time have back themselves into a corner they themselves can not escape from.

I think he is still trying to figure out how his master plan has hit a major crevice in the road.....he truly believed that this Judges dealings with the FBI would shut the DOJ and FBI's case down........well Mr. Orangeman you can not un-hire him or use your favorite words "Your Fired"....

Judge Dearie explained that he has a very simple test to determine how he’ll rule, saying if Trump’s lawyers don't officially counter whether the documents Trump took are classified, then Dearie will side with the DOJ. “As far as I'm concerned, that's the end of it,” he said.

It was only time before the Orangeman used the word Fired as I suggested in my post above.  This is starting to remind me of a trip to Toy's R Us once upon a time.  A mother had her two children with her and was shopping for a birthday gift for a party the young boy was going to attend, but the daughter was having non of it and flung herself to the floor and proceeded to throw a screaming, crying, temper tantrum.  This so much reminds me of Trumps twitter and social media posts.  The man may have been the POTUS at one time, but he never acted Presidential in any spectrum, always acted like a spoiled child.

It is rather amazing that Trump supporters will still believe him after thousands and thousands of lies.  Fact is, Trump can lie on Twitter or other social media with impunity.  He can lie in interviews.  He can lie to the press.  He can lie to his wife.  One place he can't lie is a court of law.  And that's where he fails time and time again.

In the US when something is special or extra special  it usually means it has added sour cream and guacamole and costs an extra 85 cents.  That's how DT comprehends these terms, and he can't figure how Taco Bell comes up in this case.

 

The judge talking about 'cake' was already making it confusing. 

 

 

Do bear in mind that for Team Orange the goal post is the Supreme Court.  That should take a good piece of time, Judge Clarence will ensure it drags past 2024.

And this is the plan for all the various looming indictments. 

Looks like I'm gonna have to wait a while to hear of that 3am flight to Hungary.  Or Belarus.  Barron will probably be old enough to run for office by then.

Well, yeah, that's what he does.  Never take a plea, never admit guilt, never settle.  It really pained him to fork over that $25 million to settle his fake university lawsuit.  "I never settle" sayeth he.   The judge in that case put his feet to the fire, I think he threatened his presidency (this was pre- inauguration).

 

I was somewhat impressed in that post-2020 election period at the prompt way SCOTUS was tossing off those goofy election challenges.
