Thailand named among Top 3 Best Countries in the World by Readers of Condé Nast Traveler

Featured Replies

I certainly like Bangkok, but the Athenee the 20th best hotel in the world?  I have stayed there it is part of Marriott.  It is nice, but no way in my opinion not even one of the top 20 I have stayed in.

In other news, Conde Nast Best Countries in the World places in top 3 of most pointless rankings in the world.

  • Seen one golden Temple, seen them all. Seen one elephant, Seen them all. Seen one floating market,  seen them all. Seen one national park,  seen them all. Seen one Bar,  seen them

  • Condé Nast readers need to get out more.

I like 500 baht rooms. Why spend 5000 baht for 1 sleep?

Hmm.  You have photos of the 500 b rooms you stay in?

Condé Nast centers on a more exclusive clientele.  And focuses on mostly destinations and properties which are on a higher end scale.  And of course are for the most part are in a high price range.
If a person can afford to go to some of these places why not.  I haven’t read Condé Nast for years.  But when I did.  The places and properties were beautiful.

I thought it was called the "Conned de Most" magazine......stayed at a few of those listed and they are not that grand.  Stayed at much better places in Phuket on the beach as well as in Chiang Mai

Wait a second, Japan is ranked above Thailand, but hasn't even been open to tourists until a few weeks ago? That in itself makes me question this ranking.

I just looked this up.  In 2021 Thailand had about 427,000 (thousand, not millions) of tourists.  Conde Nast had to put out the survey at least 6 months in advance to get the results, collate the results, write an article and publish it.  Which means they have to use their readers 2021 experiences for their survey.  Something doesn't add up here.  Thailand should not even be at the top with those visitor numbers.   Just saying, countries that were fully opened in 2021 should be at the top of the list.  It's basic math.

I know a lot of posters here live very sheltered, unhappy, isolated lives in rural villages that they hate, but seriously who hasn't heard of Conde Nast??  Heard of Vogue?  The New Yorker?  GQ? Vanity Fair?  All Conde Nast publications.

Or did you mean you've never heard of Japan?

Nope. Never heard of Conde Nast.

Guess I'm missing something.

Japan, that's somewhere in south east Asia?

We all know that.

Seems like it's all Phuket.

Possibly to attract Russians.

I've found some nice rooms at only 10,000 baht a night.  I'll stay a few weeks, then fly home.

Phuket is fine for SE Asia, but my friends aren't impressed as much as they used to be with my pictures of water and mangos and bowl-shaped rice.

Portugal might be next.....

Conde…who?

Nast..... Conde Nast

Well at least the Thai Tourism will be happy ????

Some country survey is saying that they are doing something right

We need more surveys from other countries saying how great Thailand is ????

Mind you I live here and it's okay if that counts for anything ????

I’m anxiously awaiting Conde Nast’s ranking of countries with the most broken man-hole covers - and I’ll be shocked if Thailand isn’t in the top 3. ????????????

Only 3rd? Na Thailand is Numero Uno far better than anywhere else in the world... Thanks TAT for the fat check sent in the post!!!

For 5000 baht id want 2 naked women.

seems nearly every week some hitherto unknown publication publishes an advertisement for Thailand quoting some fictional figures from imaginary people as part of the spiel . The correct response is to just ignore it all,   Where people find the energy / inclination to vehemently agree or disagree with the obvious b/s is a mystery to me.  As is the possibility that somebody might arrange a holiday based on what they have read in a magazine which they probably found in a dentists waiting room or whilst waiting for their car to be serviced or  wherever else  these rags end up prior to their final resting place

No need to apologise as your closing sentence has probably just  done more for the resorts popularity than anything printed in the aforementioned  throwaway publication.

I really love living here. And I have not come up with any real alternatives, that offer a comparable lifestyle, for the money. So, I would put Thailand at number one.

But from a standpoint of tourism, Thailand does not attract alot of rich tourists anymore like back in the day, for a dozen good reasons. So, likely alot of the people surveyed were speaking of trips many years ago. Especially since Thailand and Japan were shut down, or highly restricted for well over 2 years.

Or countries with the most Soi Dogs. Gotta be Numma 1 for that.

Yes! And the site clearly lives on advertising and affiliation money. Very trustworthy

I have never seen a soi dog here that did not need to be culled, and taken out of its misery. Clean up Thailand.

Add in Decrepit sidewalks and Thailand will be at number 1 again....

What's special about Thailand nothing,

20-30 years ago yes. now it's old hat.

I for one never get tired of looking at naked women, and I'm a scholar and a gentleman. I guess I could do that elsewhere, but it would probably cost more.

For all it's faults and my constant belly aching I wouldn't want to be any where else.

Exactly, there are many things to complain but it's still the best place to live imo.

- Steady climate: always hot, but no extremes like the heatwaves in China/Europe.

- Safe: Some people might argue but here you don't need to be constantly in fear like in South America.

- Affordable: There is something for every pocket, despite the recent inflation you can still live and eat very cheap if needed

- People: Thais they have their flaws, but it's one of the best places to be if you want to avoid Karens, SJWs and entitled people that get offended by anything. And yet, it's pretty much the most LGBT friendly country in the world.

- Freedom: much more limited than before, but far from the overregulated hell that most first world western countries have become.

- Religion: Buddhists are very pacific compared to some other religions.

I could go on, but I think I made my point.

Way I look at it is like this

Poll.

What country would you most like to visit - Thailand

Which country would you be most unlikely to visit again - Thailand

Yes, there are some nice , high class resorts for the rich folk, but after that its pretty 'meh'.

Why you bash Thailand?

I thought you lived here.

Great beaches, golf, great food, friendly people, great weather, and cheap.
