Anyone else perpetually sick?

Featured Replies

These past 2 months I've constantly, permanently had a cold. Sore throat, runny nose, cough and back the the beginning all over again. Not one day passed without symptoms. No fever at all - just constantly sick-lish.  It just won't go away. Rest of the family is the same, it isn't just me.

Why ask a professional when you can rely on the opinion of the forum members? ????

Where do you live, North or South? We live in the North and the cooler season always seems to bring with it a new set of health issues that don't normally exist in the hotter months. November/December usually sees me down with bronchitis which seems recurrent.

Centrally - Chonburi on the beach. It's not particularly cold here. We never feel cold or chilly, at least.

All over body pain and a sore throat.  It's called being middle aged.

^ Well I suppose it might be akin to asking around for the price of stuff before actually going out to buy something????

Society's accumulated knowledge is built on the experience of others.????

Medicine in Thailand is a business.????

Being cold (or warm) has nothing to do with contracting a cold virus!

Unlikely everyone is allergic. Sometimes you can get back to back colds for a few months, but all family at once is unusual

Did you miss that it's all the family, not just him?

Sounds like something environmental to me.

Do you know any doctors specialising in environmental diseases? Average Dr probably doesn't have a clue. I have been misdiagnosed by so many different western doctors it's not funny. Took a Thai consultant 1 minute to correctly diagnose me on history alone.

Could pollution over past 2 months have anything to do with it?

Only if neighbours also affected in same way.

Possible nasal allergy and recurrent bacterial infection. If so, lifestyle change (take it easy) and antibiotics. See doctor. He/she will probably prescribe an anti-histamine and amoxyclav.

Have had “walking pneumonia “ before several times. Whole family got it. Mycoplasma , i think is the name of the bug. Treated with 6 weeks of antibiotics to get rid of it.

never fever, always exhausted, coughing up gunk, drinking guafenisen syrup to help clear the gunk.

I go along with the above about a/c... the dust can build up... if you haven't had them cleaned regularly, that is a good place to start.

I guess most doctors in Thailand are aware of the bad air-quality, at least the doctors in the polluted areas.

Do they always get it right? No. But are they better than the average guy in a non-medical forum? Sure.

I seem to get similar symptoms around this time of year - seasonal bronchitis according to one doctor.   We moved out of Bangkok 10 months ago, and I was hoping it would be better here in Rayong.  But it isn't.

I second this. I have stayed in well used AIRbnbs where I am fairly certain the filter has NEVER been changed or cleaned.

Check/replace filters. Clean your place top to bottom. Wash sheets, pillow cases, towels, etc.

Use fans if you can when you sleep.

Eat your veggies ????

Check for lizard droppings, possibly in bags of rice, etc.

Daunting task I know, but if you don't have your health what DO you have?

Aircons are cleaned regularly. And we have a housekeeper twice a week who is scrubbin' like mad.

I don't think it's environmental.

I suspect not air but environmental.

You've got to give up work, get plenty of sun in a warm climate,

preferably by the sea, with lots of nice wimmins about.

Low level Carbon Monoxide poisoning gives the same symptoms as a cold/flu.

Someone got a gas shower heater going near you?

This screams air pollution. Stick some of the Klean Kare saltwater up your nose twice a day for a week.
