What do you think about wearing Ukrainian colors around Russians in Thailand?

As foreigners we cannot legally protest here but we sure as hell can wear any flag colors that we want!

Ironically most people wearing American colors abroad are not Americans.

The one thing that i have trouble with is the number of people that even though it does not involve them or they do not have any skin in the game feel that they have to protest.

Bye this I am looking at the protestors that say that people are being treated badly and they want equal rights and values when they were brought up with the silver spoon.

I am talking about the young women that while visiting here decided to get up on the stage at a protest during the last one and complain about how people were being treated in Thailand and how unfair it was.

I am old enough and I am sure there are others that will remember that it was not that long ago that Americans that were back packing loved Canadians,  They loved Tim Hortons, they loved the Toronto Maple leaf's and they loved our flag.  Just as long as they could get one to sew onto their backpacks or luggage, they could get a Timmies mug so that they did not look American.

Getting to the point of this post the one thing the OP has not stated is if he is Ukrainian or not.

When I first moved here there was the red yellow war.  Simple solution was top not wear those colours.

As to the Ukrainian clothes my only comment is the same that I tell my students and my daughter actions can have consequences.    In this case if you wear a Ukrainian shirt and get confronted do not be surprised and be ready to leave that establishment if need be.

I think it’s immature & antagonistic..     Contrary to what sone halfwitted  posters here think I doubt many Russians here feel any degree of support for the actions of their government

I only just found him - I listen to a broad range of views including Sky News etc. I like to retain a balance which, I observe, posters do not like to do on here. The first casualty of war is truth.

There are certain events when there is zero doubt---except among the criminally insane---who is the guilty party and who is the innocent party.

The Holocaust is one horrific example. The invasion of Ukraine is another.

Like the Holocaust, there is only one side to this story.

Consider the credentials and objectivity of those you support compared to mainstream opinion. Consider the actual known facts of the war in the last 12 months, who attacked who, was it really necessary, who has committed war crimes.

Why would you presume that the OP is American?

Born in the USA.

My grandparents barely escaped the pogroms of Russian Empire Ukraine on a slow boat to Cuba where they were locked up for being underage.

I support modern Ukraine for typicak reasons.

I don't Identify as Ukrainian in any way but boy do I admire them.

Genocidal fascist dictator Putin invaded them and wants to erase them as a sovereign nation with their own identity.

How can any decent person support Putin?

I don't think you understood my post.

I do not support Putin I do not support Zelensky.  It is the same as England or the U.S.

I do not have a dog in the fight.  I am a visitor in a neutral country.

To me it is like gong to a hockey game in Toronto and wearing a Boston Bruins jersey cheering for Boston and Booing the Laffs.

Yes I can do it and sensible people will just look at me and ignore me or cheer louder.  But there is always the possibility that someone may have had a few too many and will disagree and want to discuss it with me.

People especially in this snowflake WOKE era are offended too easily and do not want to talk about it they just want to fight.

Why prompt it.

I have, doesn't make any sense in the context of this thread.  What I did think about is why you would want to wear the "colours" of possibly the most corrupt country in Europe?

If Ukraine is that corrupt, would it not have made sense for Putin to buy the votes of a majority of the membrs of parliament to join the thr Russsia Federation or whatever his dream empire is called?

He might know he won't be around to complete that task....That would take years he doesn't have.....

He might want to go out in a blaze as a great conqueror with visions of statues & on display in a huge mausoleum dedicated to his greatness....

I’d wear a Masters of War tee shirt with Bob’s face on it if there is one out there

If you followed the news lately, you would know they not only at war,.but also dealing with the corruption to get more support. It is horrible how people can act against their own, for their own interests only!

I will say as politely as possible, and hoping to keep within the rules of the site, but your 'knowledge' of Ukraine, the so-called "CIA involvement with the coup", "secret labs", etc. is a bit to the right (not in a good way) of Flat Earth and qanon.

Now if it makes you happy or think you are 'aware' because you buy into that sort of stuff, enjoy.

Please don't point me to your 'research sources', because I guarantee I know infinitely more than you about Ukraine. Now you are welcome to view me as 'just a guy on the internet'. That's okay. Just as I know Hillary and Tom Hanks do not run an international cabal that rapes, roasts and eats babies, I know you are dead wrong.

I support Ukraine 100 percent

Of course I don't know that wearing Ukraine shirts in Thailand would help anything at all.

It's just a gesture.

I do like the idea that Russians might see something different than at home though.

I not only detest Putin but I also detest neutrality on Russia vs. Ukraine.

I'm happy that my country and current president are doing a lot but it's not enough.

Ukraine needs more to win not to just hold on.

Putin will not stop.

He will flatten all Ukraine if it comes to that if he isn't defeated in battle.

When putin first invaded, I ended up sitting in a restaurant next to a young Russian. He was a scientist from a family of famous physicists. The day of the invasion, he said he withdrew all his money from his bank and bought a ticket to Thailand, not to escape any draft (as there was none at that time), but as a personal protest.

His opinion---using his own words---was that "15% of Russians are against the invasion, and 85% of Russians are idiots who have no clue about the outside world".

Maybe that's just one opinion, but as the war has unfolded, and non-military targets have been specifically targeted----while putin retains some degree of popularity---the scientist may well have assessed his fellows accurately.

Likewise, I rarely watch Tucker except for a good laugh.

No reasonable viewer takes Tucker Carlson seriously!

"A federal judge on Thursday dismissed a lawsuit against Fox News after lawyers for the network argued that no "reasonable viewer" would take the network's primetime star Tucker Carlson seriously".

I understand your views and I accept that you feel that way.

My suggestion though to you is if you are going to wear these things please stay away from any area that serves Alcohol.

People have strong feelings about this subject not just in Ukraine and Russia but also in the U.S.

Not everyone shares your belief that the U.S. is not doing enough.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

We agree to disagree no point in talking about it anymore as you are not here to debate - you are here to press your opinion and trash anyone who differs. My last comment - have a nice day.

Just to clear up this bio lab nonsense for those in the rabbit hole

How Russia's false biolab story was echoed by the U.S. far right

Mar 25, 2565 BE — Russia's false claims about the biolabs quickly raised concerns that it might be preparing to attack Ukraine with biological weapons

https://www.npr.org/2022/03/25/1087910880/biological-weapons-far-right-russia-ukraine

The Pentagon released a new fact sheet about the government’s efforts to lessen the threat of weapons of mass destruction in Ukraine, Russia and other former Soviet countries — and internet conspiracy theorists took off running.

While the document largely repeats information about the programs’ accomplishments and efforts over the last several years, that didn’t stop some internet users from claiming that it contained a bombshell admission.

My favourite though.................

Russian lawmakers have accused Ukraine of using “mutant” soldiers, supposedly created in a U.S. operated biological laboratory, to fight off Russian soldiers

https://www.newsnationnow.com/world/russia-at-war/no-truth-to-russian-claim-of-ukrainian-mutant-soldiers/

Russia has accused Ukraine and the US at the UN security council of a plot to use migratory birds and bats to spread pathogens

Circular arguments have a habit of boomeranging yourself in the face.

Actually, all the Russians I saw in Jom Tien, where I have a Condo, were families, in the markets, bars, and including the beaches, they were very private and respective..........kept to themselves.  Now all that was pre-pandemic, don''t know how they are acting now.   We had a lot of Russian families renting apartments in my compound, the only time we had any problems was with a bat-<deleted> crazy Scandinavian guy who didn't like Russian music, and turned the fire hose on that floor and flooded everyone out.  Just glad it wasn't my floor, I was two floors above ????.        Peace

Keep in mind that many of the Russian dodger/refugees have brought their families.  So just seeing a Russian family doesn't necessarily mean they are normal tourists.

There is a condo project near me that's full of Russians but one car in the carpark has Blue and Yellow ribbons on it,
