Methinks you confuse the top guys at Fox with journalists. They are businessmen that want to make a profit- end of.

BTW, are there any real journalists any more? I've seen too much BS opinion pushed as "news" in last few years to think there are.

Even the BBC fell from grace some years ago.

I think we can dispense with the talking heads trying to insert themselves into the topic in tv interviews, and just have a camera filming the interviewee talking.

Not my area of extertise however i'm now firmly fixed in 'absolutely don't believe anything you read/see on any news services, any country. All of them.

If you bother to monitor a few stories you quickly see/realize other information which proves that many stories are blatant lies, the 'journalists/media outlets' involved are very dishonest and know it but  have no hesitation to tell lies and spread deliberately inaccurate comments all with a political purpose.

Did I say Tucker reports news? He has a show, you can call it what you want, but news or otherwise, how much is true, his opinion, exaggerated, false and so on, just ask Rachel where she gets her facts (narrative) from, VERY false and misleading.

"Tucker Carlson Tonight the highest-rated show in cable news for the week ending February 12"

FOX news has a separate listing for news, it's "FOX News Live" and "FOX News at Night"

Your argument is worthless, and pointless.

Still, in a way, you may have a point

was the intellect of the viewers responding to the ratings ever taken into account, a bit like asking a mass murderer if he is guilty.

Curious that people acknowledge that Fox hosts are lying and yet still support them and cite their popularity as a basis for credibility. I was brought up believing that truth was a virtue and lies were to be shunned. It seems many are quite happy with lies as long as it supports their twisted world view.

Truth have unfortunate become a plague word after decades with lies, white lies, broken promises and robbery in open daylights by the white shirts, and the working class pays for it.

Where to begin the healing?

So you don't care that Tucker Carlson isn't a journalist and doesn't report news.  As placeholder shows, neither does Tucker Carlson.

However if all that matters to you is rating, here are 100 programs more highly rated than Tucker Carlson:  https://variety.com/2021/tv/news/most-popular-tv-shows-highest-rated-2020-2021-season-1234980743/

Interesting that "60 Minutes" is on the list (number 24) but Tucker Carlson isn't.  In fact I didn't see any Fox News programs.

Seems that nowadays news outlets just present what is the perceived opinion of their viewership. All to raise numbers, in order to be able to sell more advertising time. Real journalism? It's close to extinction...

Lets face it, who needs Alex Jones when you have Tucker, one of his previous master pieces..................

'Off the rails': New Tucker Carlson project for Fox embraces conspiracy theories

Where Tucker Carlson goes, Fox News and its viewers follow.

The network's top host is now leading them to an examination of the violent Jan. 6 siege of the U.S. Capitol in a three-part series called Patriot Purge, which was released this week on the network's right-wing streaming service Fox Nation.

In the series, Carlson strongly suggests that the insurrection was not orchestrated by former President Donald Trump's fans but by his foes, including violent leftist antifa groups and even the FBI and other national security divisions.

The fact that Fox "News" is popular with the MAGA base just tells you that there are lots of......less than stellar thinkers in the US and this we have all known for quite some time, and the revelations in the OP will not change this yet you try constantly to divert from this scandal.

Why is that?.

Fox News has become popular with the low intellects of the America's, the most notable being them ultra low intellects known as democrats, which may not be so simple now that they are gravitating from CNN & MSNBC.

More Democrats are watching Fox News during prime time than CNN, according to data from Per Nielsen MRI Fusion.

The data shows Fox News is watched by 29 percent of liberal prime-time viewers compared to CNN, which garners 25 percent of those viewers.

Opinion | Democrats With a Dirty Secret — They Watch Fox

New data shows the conservative outlet has plenty of left-leaning viewers. Turns out everyone likes to be entertained.

MSNBC attracts more viewers than CNN so that's a distortion by omission.

How come universities are left leaning? As are most white collar workers as opposed to non college educated people who lean right? Sure, the intelligentsia lean right, LOL.
