Popular Post georgegeorgia Posted March 31, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 31, 2023 (edited) Have you ever been to jail , particularly either as a visitor or long term guest? I always get fascinated by jail's when I travel to parts of Asia and other countries (some people get fascinated by Cemeteries) and in my trip end up going to take pictures of jail's . As for Cemeteries I had friend in 2008 who came from Indonesia, took him to see the Blue Mountains in Australia,he was too interested in the Cemetery, anyway that's another story ,it's strange someones fascination in something when travelling,it's not all wine women & song ,even had a friend picture post offices ,bizzare interest in taking pics & visiting post offices I went to visit a ex Thai bar manager friend in Pattaya jail a few years ago,I didn't like him,I only went there to look inside the jail really, but we had to talk with him behind a cage wire almost like a bird aviary and other prisoners standing next to him also talking/shouting to their visitors. Bang Kwang in Bangkok is my favourite, but I must admit the guards especially the women guards were the nastiest looking people I have ever seen. There was no smiles from them. I visited the jail.in Cambodia too, just on the outside though, asked a tuk tuk to take me ,dirty dusty looking jail with rusty barbed wire So the question is have you ever been to a jail in the world I remember hearing from a guy at work saying there was a jail in the innermost area of the Scottish Highlands, I would love to see that Edited March 31, 2023 by georgegeorgia 4 3 1 2

Popular Post scorecard Posted March 31, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 31, 2023 I've been (for a few minutes to complete some paperwork on a charged soldier) inside 2 military police jails. One was an Australian military police jail. The another operated by another western military. The brutality and severe violence (part of the 24/7 standard situation) every day, enacted by soldiers in detention and the MPs very severe, very frightenng and debilitating. Terrifying and never forgotten. Over 50 years later the memories of what I saw (just in the military jails) still come back. 3 2 1

StreetCowboy Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 I am going to answer the Cemeteries part of the question that was inferred, rather than implied. Some of my favourite cycling routes pass by or through cemeteries. There is one nice ride that passes with the Muslim cemetery to the left, and the crematorium to the right. It is not such a nice ride going up the hill. We went to visit a former colleague - a late colleague - at the crematorium, the day before his ceremony. Near the big Hokkien cemetery on the edge of the city, there is the Nirvana crematorium, with what looks like a residential waiting room adjacent. There was a pack of stray dogs hanging about outside, I’ve never seen them gnawing on bones, and I always struggle not to imagine it. The pub in the middle of the cemetery was not open the first time that we passed by (to be fair, it was 10 am) and now is gone completely. Unlike Diggers (the Athletic Arms) on Ardmillan Terrace, opposite the cemetery, which I have never cycled past.

Stevemercer Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 I sometimes go for a massage at jails. There is normally a massage place attached to a woman's jail as a sort of 'return to work' scheme. The massages are normally good and very cheap. 2
NedR69 Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Taking pictures of a jail in some countries may cause authorities to think maybe you are doing surveillance.

Fat is a type of crazy Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 (edited) I like this song about jail. Hello Dad ... I'm In Jail - YouTube I have often felt cemeteries are an anachronism in these times. Taking up real estate near cities. I don't see a point going out to a cemetery to see the dead. Particularly in the age of photos, video, and online tributes. To me the person is no more in the cemetery than elsewhere and the gravestone or marker has no particular significance. Many go for the big stone or even a mausoleum. Competition to impress can make it to the afterlife. Fair enough that due to religious beliefs and other reasons many feel differently. It might be good if there can be a change in mindset so that it is not seen as disrespectful to disconnect the link between the person and some bones in the ground. Could have a time limit of say 100 years so that it is there only while people who knew you are alive not dead. Edited April 1, 2023 by Fat is a type of crazy 2
