Jack Cook Posted April 3, 2023 Posted April 3, 2023 What a farce, it’s Thailand, it’s a junta and elections are a moot point. If by some chance his daughter gets voted in there will just be another coup. Sometimes reality is sad, but it’s reality nonetheless. 1

There's also haters and many of these folks would vermently not accept an order to change/adjust/cancel his convictions and sentences, and would very possibly raise some very serious protests. As mentioned IMHO "All this is really thaksin vote buying 2023." 2 2 1
jvs Posted April 3, 2023 Posted April 3, 2023 Could also be that Thaksin woke up with a head ache and he decided to rattle some ones chain. He knows it works.

"Sure Thaksin has dedicated followers. But plentyof them are wise enought to want to follow the laws of Thailand including 'nobody is above the law'." If your guy/gal/party has time and again won elections only to be squeezed out by illegal means why would you worry about that? I certainly wouldn't. "There's also haters and many of these folks would vermently not accept an order to change/adjust/cancel his convictions and sentences, and would very possibly raise some very serious protests." No doubt. "As mentioned IMHO "All this is really thaksin vote buying 2023."" We shall see. If Thaksin does return it's clear that you're wrong and that this is something much more substantial. 2 1

Obviously their MO is industrial level vote-buying, gambling with public money to fund the vote-buying, suppression of free-speech, changing laws to allow corruption, and human rights violations. And yet the last peer-reviewed external research on this said that all parties do voting buying equally and that it has no impact on the results. Maybe you have other research to add to this? As to the rest, that must be quite a fog you are living in given the events of recent years. 2 2 1

Not sure black hole is still in use there days. they were legally ousted from power.....as the winner writes the book of history and in this case they wrote that into the constitution. But beside that: Thailand was on the brink of a civil war with already injured and death people + massive economic damage. Specially in the coup against his sister, Prayut tried till the last minute to negotiate a peaceful solution. Which would have been the PM to visit the king and telling that she is unable to govern the country and ask for an emergency government. They hoped that than the king would call in a temporary government from bureaucracy and retired respected people which pacify the country and call for new elections. The government rejected that. The alternative would have been civil war with all the tourism goes down to nothing. There was already talks that the complete South declares itself an independend country, under the king but not under Bangkok rule. There was also already a tax boycott many companies didn't pay taxes anymore and revenue department did not enforce anything anymore. 2 2

Looking at the election posters, it seems his daughter is the hottest candidate by a landslide. Dunno if that would help getting votes. Of course she also promises to double the minimum wage, so that might help a bit more. Then again, my Thai ain't great, but it seems other candidates make similar promises.
Mad mick Posted April 3, 2023 Posted April 3, 2023 Rather Thaksin, than shi_te coup d'etat Jaunta who seized power from landslide Victory off Thai people who voted Thaksin in ! No doubt selling his mobile phone company in Singapore start of his downfall tax evasion while being PM & Building buddha in his own image Chang mai & reported sitting on Thai Royal Throne unsure if " true or rumours however its Thaksin we are talking about & possible ! l'm sure would not gone down well with Rama 9 or Military understandably ! Thai military only need 1 excuse for repeating coup d'etat it's Thai military national sport ! Well Known Thaksin was planing to try & separate military from Thai Government common in most free democratic countries ! inadvertently separating Government from military would hurt military top Brass arms deals kick ???????? slightly .. If " They or his affiliated party win upcoming election he'll be back & sis No doubt ! Good possiblity Thaksin may be up for assassination & destabilise the country & giving Thai military Jaunta ammo seize power all over again ! beat goes on & on in Thailand more coup d'etat in Thailand since end of ww2 than any other country on ???? ???? just ranting thought ???? ????????????

No, Suthep was allowed to run around Bangkok disrupting traffic and even demanded civil servants report to him. Anyone else would have been arrested for treason. Prayut did nothing After the coup Suthep even boasted on how the coup had been planned- make Bangkok ungovernable, then the army has to step in. Prayuth even had to tell Suthep to shut up. A truly shameful episode in Thai politics 3

Post coup government investigation of Thaksin’s war on drugs didn’t come to any conclusion but there were extra judiciary killings by rogue policemen. Drug dealers are killing lots of people and should be severely punished. In some countries, it’s capital punishment. 1
