Australian Resort Boss Murdered While at Work in Krabi

Krabi-A 57-year-old Australian resort boss was killed by the husband of one of his own employees who was apparently upset about her pay at a resort in Krabi.

 

The Ao Nang Police told the Phuket Express that they were notified by the Krabi Hospital that a foreign man had been pronounced dead this morning, April 4th, 2023. Multiple stab and slash wounds were found on his body, said Ao Nang Police.

 

The victim was identified as a 57-year-old Australian man. (The Phuket Express is withholding his name for family privacy.) He is the husband of the Thai owner of the resort and helps co-manage and run the venue in the Khao Thong sub-district, Mueang Krabi district, said Ao Nang Police.

 

Employees at the resort told the Ao Nang Police that the suspect’s wife, who was not identified by police, is a member of staff at the resort.

I saw this on the news. My wife translated to me. The woman employee, in her own words, stated how Aussie owner was a nice man and helped her many times by lending the money. She owed him THB 9,000 and instead of repaying the debt, she asked for few more thousands. Resort owner refused and told her this was the last time she gets any more loans or advance payments. She went home, told husband what happened and he got upset and killed the poor guy. The killer has been in jail many times before, mostly for assaulting other people.

Have to be careful everywhere these days.  Last time I was in Vancouver, I was threatened by a homeless crazy guy at 9:30am outside my offices in the downtown financial center of Vancouver.  I luckily talked him down and he walked away.  Everywhere these days you see a lot of crazy.

Yeah, true, but stabbings are pretty rare here in Vancouver..... in thailand they're a daily occurrence, whether they involve foreigners or not.

I used to love Thailand but I kinda got sick of it lately. Too many issues. MIght go there on holiday again but not sure (also flights are a lot more expensive these days).

I still find their attempts to lure the richest foreigners pretty pathetic. I guess some idiots will go for it, but any millionaire with a brain should know that if you are loaded there are millions of better places than Thailand to spend your cash.

If he didn't like how much she was being paid before, he definitely won't like what she gets paid now!

When we got married thirty six years ago my wife told me to never get into an argument with a Thai. Leave it to her. Very good advice. Argument and reason is not at the top of many Thais lists of attributes. It can make you an enemy for life.

Thai justice system strikes again. How many times do we see these stories of repeat offenders killing people, burning down family homes, stealing etc. Just. Give a Wai and fruit basket and your good to go.

I was about to post that the victim has been named in the media in Perth, his hometown, but I see another has posted a link.

He lost an infant daughter in the tsunami in 2004, but has always held a strong connection with Thailand.

I remember my first Thai GF told me exactly the same, also long time ago, however I live here in LOS, I'll never forget, and keep it always in mind.

There are an extremely limited number of rich tourists who visit Thailand, for a dozen valid reasons. They continue to attract primarily low to middle income Indians, Malaysians, and Chinese. Fewer Europeans and Americans and very few with real money. Rich tourists have alot of options, without ignorant luxury and wine taxes, dumb laws, and scammers. 

 

Having said that, Thailand remains a relatively safe place to travel.

Sounds like another weak, pathetic, pathological, simple minded man, who stopped developing emotionally when he was 13. May he rot in prison, where he is sure to make some lovely new friends.
