How to get rid of soi dogs the legal way

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

I am sure this has been adressed at some time, but the search term "soi dogs" yields 777 pages, some with completely different topics. So please bear with me.

Here is my problem: In front of our house there are a couple of soi dogs that seem to have made this place their home. I find this disturbing and it might even be dangerous at times. Is there any organization that I could call for removal ? Or the local Puyai Baan ? Probably they wont care. But killing them is illegal and I would as well not want to do that.

I remember that I have read here on AN (formerly Thaivisa, I think it was some time ago) that someone uses a stick which produces electroshocks. Exactly for the same purpose. Maybe that would teach them that they are not welcome where they are now. Or is there another solution ? Getting used to it (I suspect this would be the standard answer from AN members) is no option for me.

Local Amphur office.

In CM they come right round in a pickup and remove the dogs forever.

Most Thais just throw rocks or coconuts at the soi dogs.

Best just let the lethal project fly and worry about legal  (won't be any)  repercussions later.

You might tell your neighbors first just in case it's there stray dog so there forewarned.

They probably belong to someone in your road / street / village.

Unless they are barking and howling all night keeping you awake, why not let sleeping dogs lie?

They could be an advantage to you. They will bark and alert you to potential  burgers.  They will deter people from trespassing, and they will drive off cats, other dogs and even snakes.

Who is talking about 2 ? There are at least 5. Just now. But they multiply. A burglar alarm while we are at home is not needed. And who cares if they would (they even would not I suspect) bark if someone tries to enter our home while we are away ?

If they would belong to someone in the soi, why would they not stay there. Not one is wearing any identification either. Som nam na.

"A couple" may as well mean "some".

Not really friends, but I know one Vietnamese. I have no Korean friends. And I do not know if these would be picky choosing their food. You and me investigate as well a fish or a steak before eating. I think the idea with the local Amphur office is the best so far.

If the 5 are there what seems to be permanently them someone is feeding them ! They will only hang around where there is food.

If you want to move them on quietly use a sonic device. Look on Lazada, that will irritate them enough to move on.

You asked a question ("Who is talking about 2?") and I answered it. That's it. Don't write "a couple" and then complain about people thinking you mean two, as that is what it means.

I wrote in my OP: "But killing them is illegal and I would as well not want to do that." Clear enough ?

Thank you. Maybe you are right and I will try the idea with the sonic device.

You said there were two.  A couple is two.

Of course they won't have ID tags on them.

Are you new to living in Thailand?

Because there not his dogs.

Who wants random dogs sleeping around your house?

Jeesh, what an odd reply to someone concerning stray dogs hanging around there private property.

Lol ......   in the opening post the OP said there were a couple of soi dogs.  Anyway,   he's changed now and says there are 5  dogs .....      anyway,  doesn't really matter just he confused folks.

OP,  I think Charlie had the best solution,   check out Lazada for high frequency dog sonic wave repellent.

He did not actually say they were on his property, just in front of his house.

I think he should move.  He recently bought this house and was upset because he did not get floor plans.  Then he finds that the ac is not up to his standard and wants the builder to replace the units.  And now disturbing and dangerous soi dogs.  Since this is all within a couple of months it is likely to be more so just move, sell the house and get some help finding a place without so many problems.

I think it is a very poor inconsiderate idea because it would clearly negatively affect other animals who are not causing any problems.  If my neighbor put such a device in I would take action to get it shut down or removed promptly.

Why are dogs hanging around the perimeter of his house ?

odd.

I've had plenty of soi dogs walking by or even pregnant females having a litter of pups outside our backyard.   I've no problem with that.

I wouldn't want a soi dog or dogs making themselves comfortable outside the perimeter of my property.

Perhaps someone is getting rid of scraps of food from meals and throwing them over the fence,  we do that.   However the dogs eat and move on.

I've got two dogs, golden retrievers, they bark and act tough when soi dogs are outside the fence.

Rubbish. And I think you know it. Just making a point, or is this supposed to be a compassionate advice ? Besides you are researching past posts of me. My house seems to be attracting a lot of interest. For me this discussion is closed now.

Yes it is compassionate advice.  You are a problem magnet so you need to relocate in an area carefully researched to have the absolute minimum of problems.  Clearly your current location does not meet that requirement.

So reading posts and remembering some of them is against the law now?

I would apply a large amount of insect spray to the ground area where they hang out. All animals seem to hate that stuff. Also anything citrus, like citronella spray. Even lemongrass. Then watch them magically move on.

Jeezw what an odd response. Almost as if you never read the OP

His house might be hard to sell with all the horrific problems it's got. God, I feel sorry for the poor guy.

Just tell the neighbors with chicken, you see them chasing and killing them. They are soon gone!

Isan humor not recommended and my biggest fear when it comes to my animals who stay at the farm, but every time there is new dogs in the area, they put out dead chickens with poison.

Awful.

It's not some ghetto.

Some of us have pride in our homes for gods sake.

If you enjoy your home and surrounding area looking like some 3rd world dump by all means go for it.

But in real life nobody in the real world wants a bunch of stray dogs sh***ing and peeing around your house.

Luckily you don't live in our village.  Your probably one of those people that feeds them,  contributing to the problem.
