The only reason legal casinos are not allowed to operate in Thailand is because it would hurt the profits of the illegal ones operated by 'untouchables'. Notice how the news a few months ago about possibly opening up casinos in Thailand has all gone quiet?

Seems big demand for casinos exist in Pattaya.

Think of all the charter flights bringing mobs of Indians and others in.

The infrastructure is already in place, what with hookers, hotels, drugs, bent cops and politicians on offer.

I had a friend/colleague who ran a poker club in Phuket more than 10 years ago, but he gave it up and moved back to Sweden again after the police wanted more than 50% of the winnings. Greedy Thais, 10-20 % should be enough.

Something to remember with Thailand trying to attract tourists from India & China is that for people from those countries (unlike for Europeans & N Americans), Thailand is a short haul destination. Thailand has almost 3 billion potential tourists almost on it's doorstep, which could prove to be rather too many?

The illegality of gambling in Thailand is of course entirely the prerogative of those in authority.

However illegal gambling does occur on a large scale and members of the RTP , amongst others , are certainly heavily implicated.

Given this fact it seems naive of you to praise the RTP or to suggest that foreign elements are responsible largely for the law breaking.

I would have thought somebody as concerned as you appear to be , would wish to finger the real villain , his name is Mr institutionalised corruption !

Still wonder what is the point to travel from India to Pattaya where gambling officially prohibited? There are many online casinos and anyone can gamble at the luxury of his home, villa, beach side with or without hookah?

Maybe they had some other activity as well? Something that is not THAT MUCH available back in India? Maybe there were some extra hot somtam? Ultra delicious durians? Or something even more fruity?

Otherwise the whole 50K roundtrip makes no sense:
