Can You Hire An Agent To Take Your Car/Motorcycle Exam?

I'm a moderator on a Facebook page and someone keeps posting an ad for getting a Thai driver's license and they will take the exam for you. Is this legal?

 

I'm not sure if I should remove/ban them or if it's just one of those "wink 'n' nod" Thai things.

I never have to get the physical exam when renewing my licenses because I use an agent. I honestly don't know, that's why I posted the question.

I think it’s one of the biggest scams at the moment being posted across all Thai fb groups at the moment. It’s not possible and these people are taking a fair few people for a ride.

That's because you had a oridginal home DL when getting a Thai DL I'd expect.

 

To get someone else to take a driving test for you is obviously illegal and no-one should encourage anyone to do it for many reasons, safety being one. 

 

Should be banned IMHO.

there are 3 different scenarios:

- renewing an existing license: Agents can do this for you, even though it is not allowed, because you should do the eye and reaction tests, and also the picture for the license should be renewed.

- getting an initial license based on a foreign license: An agent can make it easier (paperwork, appointment, skip video), but you need to be there for taking the picture (minimum)
- getting an initial license without a foreign license: Absolutely illegal for an agent to offer this, as the new driver must do the driving test AND the multi-choice test. 

Therefore, an agent offering the service "taking the exam for you" is offering something illegal.
