Suspect Boongarin, wearing a bulletproof vest

The police has issued a weapon to the suspect. I believe that's illegal:

These "photo-opportunity" re-enactments for the media by the Thai police are farcical. Saying that, if I was allowed near my sons killer in a public place like this I'm not sure how I would react. Actually I am sure but will abide by forum rules. Words cannot express what the father is feeling. What a tragedy.

Totally disagree. Every legal method to obtain evidence should be tried. Nothing worse than having a fall guy. What should happen is that the public are not allowed anywhere near the accused espically those it effects. The crime scene should be completely sterile.

Exactly what potential evidence do you think is being gathered at this and other "re enactment "events ? It’s pure pantomime.

they still need answers. torture would be better. that's how they got the confession..

edit: redacted. i can't remember if torture is legal...

I can imagine the father's and family feelings having to  going through the police reenactment anger sadness ect

The son was to young to lose his life RIP

just hope they find the girl involved soon and alive ????

The entire pantomime is nothing more than to aggravate the family’s and onlooker’s feelings. No evidence is being gathered It’s a circus reminiscent of the stocks in the town square in medieval England.

But can you remember if it’s effective or not? Plenty of evidence it is not helpful in revealing accurate information.

If it was my son I made sure this guy would not die, but suffer and be raped, beaten, the rest of his life, daily or weekly. And after jail, a slow painful death, after a few days of more torture.

I really don't understand the purpose of this re-enactment.

If the police glean some new information, maybe trigger someone's memory who comes forward with evidence then yes.

But this achieves nothing but more sorrow and hatred.

He should be back at the station being interrogated fully for days until he states what happened to Pong the young girl.

'Look me in the eye you b***ard!': British father whose son was beaten to death in Thai forest screams at his son's killer and says 'I want to throttle him' as the convict shows police where he killed Ben, 16

The father of a British boy battered to death in Thailand has furiously confronted the man who murdered his son, screaming at him: 'Look me in the eye, you b***ard'.

Shaking with rage, Steven Graham stared through the window of a police truck as sex crimes convict Chaiwat Boongarin, 44, was taken back to the spot where he murdered Woramet Ben Taota, 16, and dumped his body on Saturday.

The body of Mr Graham's teenage son was discovered on Sunday in a dense forest in Lampang, northern Thailand, prompting the 60-year-old businessman to rush to the country from his home in Eastbourne, East Sussex.

Today, he confronted his son's killer who was sitting in the back of the police truck after confessing to the crime. The window was briefly lowered before Mr Graham shouted: 'Scum, look at me in the eye, look at me in the eye, you b***ard'.

Speaking afterwards, he said: 'I want to throttle him'.

Suspect Boongarin, wearing a bulletproof vest, was then escorted in handcuffs to the secluded spot where Ben was found battered to death on Sunday morning, for a crime scene reconstruction.

Obviously you have never been Involved in collecting evidence and do you believe Thailand are the only people who do some sort of reenactment?

Totally agree. The area should be sealed to prevent contamination of evidence by the public trampling all over it and disturbance.

If this was anything other than a dog and pony show by the police they would take the evidence gathering seriously.

This is ‘ reenactment' AFTER the killer has been identified and confessed. Not the purpose of reenactment in Western countries which is there to jog people’s memories to help identify an as yet unknown perpetrator. They do NOT parade around an arrested perpetrator who has already confessed. That’s just a circus show!

I guarantee that with torture even YOU would confess to the boys murder even though you may have been hundreds of miles away at the time. You would confess to anything to make it stop.

Identified and confessed? We have seen how they get confessions. Re parading around please read my first message which said it should be a sterile area with no other people that it effects there. So when making a comment make sure you read it all and keep up.

he wasn't hundreds of miles away. he went above and beyond to stash his bike. they questioned him professionally (all night) and got a confession. i can send you a dozen Western interrogations on YT that went for days. they got confessions too. was it torture? no food, no water, no cigs, coming down off drugs, trick questions all night. maybe lol

the evidence that torture doesn't work is warzone related, not RTP related. they didn't just pick up the nearest somchai. that happens mostly in the US.

I have my doubts about the whole story.

First, he denied everything.
Only, after a long interrogation, he admitted the crime.
It's well known that police interrogations are not always "clean interrogations".

Second, if he burried the body of the dead boy to conceal his crime, why would he have let the girl run away and not killed her on the spot too.
Assuming that he would have killed the girl later, maybe at home after ....., what's the use of keeping the whereabouts of the girl secret?

Doesn't add up to me and smells like the admittance of the crime like the 2 Burmese guys ...

So why do they make it a media circus to proclaim the so-called "innocent until proved guilty" confess his crimes on TV? With only a confession extracted after an all-night interrogation session when he could well have done due to extreme tiredness? Without any forensic evidence? One would think that the cops picked a likely candidate who fit the crime, arrested him and forced the confession out of him? Anything to get a result!

I pause to wonder why this unfortunate kid was not in the UK getting an education vs living in a village and then allegedly and very sadly got involved in running drugs for the guy that ultimately confessed to murdering him?

This is assumption there is no evidence he was a drug dealer. If he was born here in Thailand or his family lives here, he wouldn't be at school in UK and not in Thailand either as it's school holiday. Do not place blame on his family. THIS IS MURDER.
