"White Accommodation for Foreigners" project,

I dread to think what projects like this would be called for Indians, Africans, Chinese, or Japanese, old prince Philip would have loved it.

How about curtailing the Taxi Driver Mafia first.

I guess the "Taxi mafia breaking the law" has been put in their "cash cow crime syndicate" basket for now and forever.

They just named it after a bird - similar to calling it 'Operation Pelican' or somesuch.'

You are mistaken. Although there is a species named Black Eagle, the focus of the policing action was definitely black foreigners.

Too right, I left Phuket 20 years ago because of them !! One time, a drunk driver came to pick me up,( Kata beach). I refused of course. Another time , I had to get out of the taxi on top of Karon to Patong hill as the driver was weaving all over the road ( high ?) . Luckily I managed to flag down some foreigners. Another time got  dropped off about 4 km from destination due to traffic. He turned round and went back. I did not pay.  Ignorant thugs Rich enough to have their own cars and charge what they want to. If I go out evenings and have a meal and a glass or 2, I need taxis. If I go shopping with heavy bags I don’t want to add 500 ++ Baht taxi cost to my shopping.
They should have a decent government bus service , for Thais and foreigners.  The last time the authorities did that about 15 years back the taxis blocked the road and the driver had to run for it.

Just RACIST. Why is Thailand getting away with this? If this happened in the uk  OMG the uproar,  the protest and riots.

Teflon Thailand. They even once got away with blowing up a Cathay Pacific jet!

A BIB was the prime suspect, and his acquittal, in Thailand of course, led to a frenzy of national rejoicing on the court steps. He eventually died of stomach cancer in the US, so there's that.

Really?

Sponsored by Darley ?

Is this action sponsored by Darley?

Are they going to ensure someone who rents a scooter has a proper license, skill to drive one, and insurance?

All sounds rather racist to me. Is their a black law also. What about Thai's. Are they all good law abiding citizens. I hear the Thai mafia have a base in Phuket. Are do they pay their way out like all good Thai citizens.

It isn't a witch-hunt if they catch lawbreakers. It's doing what they are paid to do.

Doesn't matter the color of the skin, illegal means just that.

There are many Thais who actually believe this, thanks to decades of propaganda... - I'm sure, charging THAIFEX exhibition people 4,000 to 5,000 baht for taxi rides from Muang Thong Thani to Bangkok downtown recently, just to name one example, was a big misunderstanding, and we will be bombarded the next couple days with stories of 'honest taxi drivers returning wallets with 5 million baht in it, and briefcases full of rolexes, gold bars, pearls, and diamonds'...

Or, some might remember, just after the tsunami 2004, foreigners trying to get to Phuket Airport...

taxi driver: "5,000 baht",

tourist: "Don't have.",

taxi driver: "You walk!"

But as I often hear, all Thais are "jai-dee" and honest...

Thailand a perfect example of the old adage of “a thief shouting 'stop thief!'”

My guess is that this is just another example of their atrocious English knowledge and usage.

Possibly they had something like "White Listing" accommodation in their poor, half informed minds, when they sadly, inevitably made a total **** up of naming and presenting yet another.....sigh......."crackdown".

Why the **** can they not run this sort of thing past a native Anglophone, before they puke it out into the public sphere?

What can you say to them?

What can you say?

This is all targeted towards dodgy Russians. Come on people. Its not us whities from western democracies.

Even less incentive to revisit Foo-Kit in the future.

Corrupt Thais.

Racist Thais.

Overpriced and over-rated holiday destination.

Throw in hordes of Soviets.

What more could anybody want at the end of a £1,200 rip-off return flight ticket??

Just looking at the ridiculous photos of very important little men in uniforms, you can't help but think that this is yet another dog and pony show that will accomplish very little.

There might even be international criminals using Thailand as a base for illegal activities.

Really?

Who would have thought that.....

I suppose the average IQ at the top of the police force went up from 7 to 9 on this amazing piece of deduction.

Give that man a lollipop, shave his head and call him Kojak !!!

Just confirms my opinion of Phuket as probably the worst place in Thailand and one place I'll never go back to.

Phuket is known for being one of the most corrupt regions of Thailand.

Aren't these government officials not shy, at least, to announce these actions against criminals without looking at themselves?

Having these little fat wanna bee's running around in their combat gear is nothing new in Phuket it's been going on for years, I knew one they would be roaming the streets at night if the police raided a bar they would be there as backup,

As I said at the start of this post, Start at the airport then you can take your pick at any government department,

There is a Thai news outlet running a similar story to this, it gave more facts and figures and the areas they will be targeting, the midget was reading it out to me yesterday bit early in the morning here I'll find which one it was later,
