Popular Post snoop1130 Posted June 14, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 14, 2023 Photos of school lunches, which look more like leftovers, have sparked outrage on social media in Thailand, once again raising questions over the quality of lunch menus in Thai schools. A Facebook page called “Mai-chub-kub-Banjong”, reposted the photos from one of the parents, showing what Year 5 students at a private school in Bangkok’s Don Mueang district had to eat for lunch each day. The post explains that one of the students took the pictures and sent them to their parents, which shocked them as they were paying almost 30,000 baht per semester for the tuition fees, which includes 3,000 baht for the school lunch. Despite how much money they have spent, their children ended up with minimal portions of rice and chicken nuggets or rice with sausages. It's fairly standard Thai corruption. Skimming, embezzlement, etc.. There is money moving around, so some of it goes into the pocket(s) of whomever is responsible for managing it. 17 1 8 8

Why do people always say "enuff said" when they clearly haven't said enough??? What point are you trying to make with the phrase "social media outrage"? Are the complaints invalid because they are on social media? 7 2 1 5 1

Popular Post lopburi3 Posted June 14, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 14, 2023 School lunch? We packed that peanut butter and jelly sandwich at home and took to school. On a good day might also have an apple. 7 2
Popular Post StayinThailand2much Posted June 14, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 14, 2023 (edited) Sausages and rice? Those kids are lucky! I've seen kids at private schools being served some Mama noodles, perhaps with a chicken bone with a little meat on it, or a few teeny tiny vegetables... Perhaps the parents pay 3,000 baht a month for their kids' lunch at those small private schools, but what the kids actually get is worth more like 300 to 500 baht a month. Once more, people (here parents) are getting scr****... Edited June 14, 2023 by StayinThailand2much 2 1

Popular Post NONG CHOK Posted June 14, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 14, 2023 I was aware of this 12 years ago. My wifes grandson was staying with us for a few months. After seeing what was called "lunch" I told my wife to pack him a school lunch from home. I then advised my wife to instruct her daughter to stop paying and when junior goes back home to get off her lazy ass and take care of her son with decent food from home. 6 1

Maybe the parents should put down theirs phones and ignore their TikToks, FB, YM, IG accounts for half an hour every morning and prepare a healthy packed lunch for their kids instead of being so outraged 8 3

spermwhale Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 Maybe the problem is that they are only being charged 3,000 baht a semester for school lunches. I've been paying tens of thousands of baht a year for my kids' lunches at Ruamrudee International School. 2

Bim Smith Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 When you see those trucks that bring soil to level the land when a house is being built is around the most inexpensive part of building one. When it's a government contract the price increases ten fold. It's standard Thai practice to skim a little. 1

NemoH Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 Always knew education was a rip off in Thailand especially. why do you want your kids to go to a private or international school who are operated n run by greedy rich people who rip you off on ridiculous items like - deposit for building fund, non refundable deposit, outrageous school fees, school bus that cost more than airport limos and they charge per kid despite both kids going to the same house…n school lunches which are as expensive than gourmet cuisine …. Greed greed greed 2
