The headless body of a man, who was also missing his hands, has been discovered floating in the sea near Koh Phi Phi.

The Phuket Express reports that Krabi Marine Police were informed of the discovery over the weekend. It’s understood the report was made by staff from Hat Nopparat Thara – Mu Koh Phi Phi National Park.

The body was located around 500 metres to the west of Phi Phi Leh, where the popular tourist beach of Maya Bay is located. Rescue workers arrived at the scene to recover the body, which had started to decompose.

You remove the head and hands to avoid the body being identified.

Then you can burn & bury the head and hands which are much easier to carry around an dispose of.

If you put the corps in the water, wouldn't it be easier to weight it down...if underwater soon enough it got eaten and impossible to find something?

Dental records ..... teeth don't decay once dead.

You need to pull them out and crush them with a hammer.

Yes indeed. The destruction of dental records and fingerprints.

However these days there is DNA for identification purposes.

Probably not in Thailand.

And you would need to know the victims DNA in advance.

I thought they got DNA recogn. technics since that hairy detective woman found traces of slaughtered woman parts in the sewage of Hyatt in Bangkok. That was quite a story, if anyone remembers )

Also, hospitals are offering DNA tests for pregnant for missing chromosomes.

Many farangs loose their heads when coming to Thailand....

Best reply—thanks.

BTW, it’s “lose” not “loose.  But “”loose” kinda works too.

With respect, the victim's DNA Profile can be obtained from the remains of the body - bones, organs, blood etc. which would assist in its identification, as in the tragic Tsunami of 2004. The Thai Forensic team used DNA profiling to help identify many of the victims, along with other means. For reference (Google):

Similarly, while DNA identified only 2% of adults from Finland, France, Germany, and Sweden combined, DNA was responsible for 30% of Thai adult identifications. By 16 July 2008, 3,308 victims were identified: 799 (24%) by DNA, 1,337 (40%) by dental, 1,142 (35%) by fingerprint, and 30 (1%) by physical characteristics.
