My question, would tourists, expats, Thaid choose a 6'4 farang to drive them around?

Yes! I would anyway.

I would choose a farang driver over an ethnic Thai any day of the week!

When I retire in 10 years, if like to work part time as a Tuk Tuk driver.

More to socialise than the money.

I can do this as I'm naturalized.

Yes if you give a guided tour and be fair with prices.

Thanks.

My thinking is that maybe foreigner tourists would feel safer, and maybe Thais for the novelty.

I don't think the other Tuk-tuk drivers would welcome you ,

they would see you as competition ,and they don't like any

competition ,no matter how many times you tell them your

Thai and show them your passport....

Regards worgeordie

stuff em.

Competiton is the name of the game!

Shape up or........  you know the rest!

Taxi drivers in Thailand in general need a good kick up the backside!

tuk tuks included.

perhaps a western looking gentleman driving tourists about the place is just what the industry needs. Who knows, they may even learn a thing or two!

Best of luck to you mate

You would probably do very well, as foreign tourists will be very comfortable with a tuk-tuk driver who speaks very good English. Your height is irrelevant seated under a tuk-tuk canopy.

The only snag I would see is being a victim of your success, when the BIB cotton on, and start demanding tea money.

You are assuming that you will still be here in 10 years.

one thing to consider is the possibility of self-driving tuk tuks in 10 years, no more need for drivers.

china already testing autonomous mini bus.

but maybe thailand will not advance as quickly as other countries?

do it now!

don't wait until retirement.

do it on weekends.

I draw the line at 6ft , and no shorter than 5 ft. A man got's to have standards.

Stay positive!

Ignore they naysayers!

PS; I do however agree that native Thai Tuk Tuk drivers may/will take offence/umbrage!

Sorry dude , I know it's your dream but how about getting an Etan and setting it up as a baht bus? Now that's something I want to see.

you'll end up having a machete fight with the other tuk tuk drivers

do thais regularly fight other thais with machetes who also work as tuk tuk drivers?

I do hope you are posting about being driven around town/city in a Tuk Tuk, rather than being driven sexually mad by the height/size of the driver!

Yes!

They do if they think their "Patch" is being encroached on!
