Donald Trump has said he plans to turn himself in on Thursday to a court in Atlanta, Georgia, to face charges of election interference.

A judge in Georgia overseeing the former president's case earlier set a bail bond of $200,000 (£157,000).

The bail filing says Mr Trump can remain free pending trial so long as he does not attempt to threaten or intimidate witnesses.

Mr Trump denies 13 charges, including racketeering and false statements.

"The defendant shall perform no act to intimidate any person known to him or her to be a co-defendant or witness in this case or to otherwise obstruct the administration of justice," says the court filing posted on Monday.

"The above shall include, but are not limited to, posts on social media or reposts of posts made by another individual on social media," the order adds.

The order was signed by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who is overseeing the case, and lawyers for Mr Trump.

But on Monday Mr Trump posted to his social media platform, Truth Social, writing: "Can you believe it? I'll be going to Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday to be ARRESTED by a Radical Left District Attorney, Fani Willis.

"She campaigned, and is continuing to campaign, and raise money on, this WITCH HUNT," he added. "This is in strict coordination with crooked Joe Biden's DOJ."

In election cases, experts say Trump’s rhetoric will be hard to police

Trump advisers see a win-win scenario in pretrial skirmishes over what he can say about indictments

At her first hearing overseeing the 2020 election obstruction case against former president Donald Trump, U.S. District Judge Tanya S. Chutkan tried to draw a line in the sand: “I intend to keep politics out of this.”

Legal experts say that will be a tricky — perhaps impossible — task, especially in a criminal prosecution in which politicians or their aides are the alleged perpetrators, witnesses and victims, and the defendant is running for president.

Trump Urges Georgia GOP To Impeach Fani Willis For Prosecuting Him—Here’s Why That’s Unlikely

Quote

Former President Donald Trump attacked Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp Monday, accusing him of blocking an effort to impeach Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis after her office brought election interference charges against Trump last week—and while the legislature has the tools to impeach Willis, it’s unlikely the effort will succeed.

Trump has played the judicial system his whole life blocking normal people from justice whether it be contractors he stiffed or others he wronged.

Now he is claiming he is being silenced by being brought to court I thought you was able to stand up in court and state the truth oh yes sorry he is right

Who would have thought, Trumps lawyers trying to set the trial for 2026 with misleading statements

Special counsel pushes back on Trump’s call for 2026 trial on election charges

Federal prosecutors on Monday sharply rejected former President Donald Trump’s call for an April 2026 trial on charges related to his effort to subvert the last presidential election, arguing that he based the proposal on misleading statistics and an exaggeration of the volume of evidence in the case.

Molly Gaston, a senior assistant special counsel on Jack Smith’s team, said Trump’s attorneys incorrectly suggested that cases involving conspiracy charges typically take 29.4 months to reach a conclusion.

He'll be a complete coward ???? when her steps into the Georgia Police station this week. Sullen silently raging, scowling yes, weasel-like.

He'll (just like he was when he was confronted with Jack Smith in the court in Washington), be a total coward, silent, eye avoiding wimp.

Like when he was pretending to be president at international conferences like the G7. He'd be nice and friendly glad handing everyone face to face, then leave early and as soon as he was out of harm's way on AF1, start tapping out the insults on Twitter like the demented, cowardly keyboard warrior he is.
