Trump surrenders for historic fourth arrest

Former President Trump has surrendered to authorities in Georgia on Thursday evening following an indictment by a grand jury on 13 criminal counts stemming from his efforts to overturn the 2020 election in the state.

Trump will not enter a plea at this time. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) has requested arraignments for the 19 co-defendants in the election interference case just after Labor Day.

Trump’s bail is set at $200,000, and the order also places rules on his social media use and his ability to talk to co-defendants and witnesses about the case.

Trump arrived at the jail just after 7:30 p.m. ET, spending about 22 minutes inside being booked before his release. A massive motorcade and police presence accompanied him to the jail from the Atlanta airport and back.

Reminds me of Thaksin when the Junta went after him politically.

The only difference being, Trump is staying to defend himself instead of Thaksin who fled the country.

Lots of parallels between Thailand under the Junta and the US under Biden. Sad times.

Waiting to see his declared weight now, hopefully there'll be a lot of winners, particularly as he's fat shamed so many people before.

The bookies are all over Trump’s surrender to the Fulton County Jail in Georgia, expected to take place on Thursday. BetOnline.ag—the same classy sports betting site that offered a line on Elon Musk’s penis size—is now letting you bet on what jail officials will put down as Trump’s recorded weight. The line currently sits over/under 278.5 pounds, a far cry from the 244 pounds White House physician Sean Conley recorded for Trump in 2020. The former president seems to have a preoccupation with weight—both his and others’. He has repeatedly fat-shamed his political opponents, and many speculated that he downplayed his own weight during his presidency.

The former president was listed as 6-feet 3-inches, 215 pounds, with 'strawberry or blond hair' and blue eyes.

I think these can be self-reported. Or maybe Dr, Jackson helped?

Pure tyranny. I wonder whether anyone cheering the weaponization of the justice sytem is basing their sheer loathing of the man - and justification for this unprecedented coordinated attack on an ex Pres - on facts, rather than a well crafted narrative that paints him as an immoral and corrupt psychopath? Somehow I doubt it.

Funny, in Thailand I recall martial law, curfews, soldiers on the streets, military roadblocks, rule by decree (section 44 interim constitution), rewriting the constitution, banning the novel "1984", banning the Hunger Games salute, banning assemblies of five or more persons, banning eating a sandwich in public "for political purposes".....

I don't remember any of that under Biden.  Though I can definitely imagine these things and more happening under Trump if he had succeeded in overturning the election.

The US people will figure it out in time, even the diehard, anti-Trump supremacists will come to their senses.

Will any of the MAGA Republicans claiming "weaponization of the justice system" please tell us specifically which charges and what evidence against Trump justify such a claim?

I suggest that those figures have a confidence level of zero percent as it was self-reported.

down 25 pounds from when he was booked following his New York arrest in April

If convicted and lands up in jail, with all that time on his hands perhaps he should do another book project, "The Art of Weightloss"

One major difference: Biden was elected.

Also, Trump committed crimes. Although you apparently feel that Trump is above the law.

Please advise which of the 91 charges against Trump are false.

Let me remind you of an old legal maxim:

"When the facts are against you, argue the law.

When the law is against you, argue the facts.

When the law AND the facts are against you, talk about random stuff like lawfare and weaponization".

So  you can't argue the law or the facts, apparently.

Actually, some of Trump's favorite people pushed a kind of military coup when they advocated declaring martial law and having the military confiscate voting machines. Even after they made that proposal, they are still some of his favorite people.

And here's what Trump wrote on Truth Social:

"A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution. Our great ‘Founders’ did not want, and would not condone, False & Fraudulent Elections!”"

He followed up by posting “UNPRECEDENTED FRAUD REQUIRES UNPRECEDENTED CURE!”

Some here seem intent on him being jailed due to their personal political view rather than whether he is guilty or not. ????

I'm intent on him being jailed if found guilty by jury. I'm also intent on him being released if found not guilty. Which people are you referring to?

Unlike Trump who was intent to "Lock her up"

And some (all?) of his supporters here keep on insisting that none of the charges against him have any validity or lie and compare his actions to those of Biden or Pence. And claim that all the cases are politically inspired. But not you, of course.

Weren't you saying "Lock her up" in 2016?

If not, were you complaining when Trump said it?

Are these the people asking for evidence of why the charges against Trump are false?

Or you making one of those accusations confession things.

Some people seem intent on Trump never facing trial for allegations handed down by Grand Juries on the basis of their own political views.

Hundreds of pages of indictments are a pretty decent affirmation.

There are no real denials, just mumblings about weaponization.

I think you'll be waiting a long time for an answer that doesn't simply resonate with the Trumpist bottom-dwellers . . . luckily not everyone is as gullible to believe the dross that accompanies the apologist dribble

Uh-huh . . . why would that be?  He has so many charges laid against him that he will be hoisted by his own petard . . . nothing to do with anyone else let alone anyone else here with zero influence.

What is odd, conversely it is perverse that some here seem intent on him not being jailed due to their personal political view rather than whether he is guilt or not.  Hint:  He is guilty to anyone who has a shred of decency and knowledge of the laws he has broken.

Can't wait to see him go to jail when he is found guilty . . . and he will be eventually for the crimes he commited

That’s what the trials are about, and Trump is going to trial, multiple times.

You remember his cry ‘Lock her up’.

I do too, but I like trials before juries.

This one is going to be most enjoyable.

Ha, good point. However, 2 wrongs don't make a right.

I believe there was more evidence against her, yet she wasn't indicted, I wonder why?
