Popular Post spermwhale Posted September 7, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 7, 2023 That's tragic for all the vendors and the owners of the property. None of these people are rich. It's hard work doing what they do. Very sad. 9 1

During the floods in 2011 the vast majority of claims submitted for property damage were from multinationals doing business in Thailand as well as sophisticated Thai operations. If it's not auto or life insurance, it's an afterthought. 3

Yet again forecast is rain here, and yet again - nothing. Severe drought here within months 1 1 1 1

webfact Posted September 8, 2023 Author Posted September 8, 2023 Fire destroys popular Pattaya Floating Market By Peter Roche PHOTO: Matichon Pattaya’s Floating Market, a popular tourist magnet in Pattaya’s Sukhumvit Road, has been burnt to the ground by a fire that broke out last night. Nation Thailand reports that around 1 rai of the 19-rai attraction was totally destroyed in the blaze. Chon Buri governor Thawatchai Srithong says firefighters managed to get the blaze under control at around 10pm. The governor inspected the scene of the blaze later last night, accompanied by Pattaya mayor, Poramet Ngamphichet. Thawatchai says the fire spread rapidly, due to most of the buildings and structures at the market being made of wood. After the blaze had been extinguished, firefighters continued to spray water over the debris, to prevent fire catching hold again. webfact Posted September 8, 2023 Author Posted September 8, 2023 Fire partially destroys Pattaya floating market A forensic team is at the Talad Nam 4 Park in Pattaya today (Friday), to search for clues to the source of a fire on Thursday night which destroyed a section of this floating market, causing damage initially estimated at about 50 million baht. One man suffered from smoke inhalation, but he has recovered after being treated at a hospital. The fire reportedly started in the northern zone of the three hectare market in Nong Prue sub-district, Bang Lamung district. Fanned by strong winds, the flames quickly consumed most of the shops there, during which sporadic explosions were heard. Over 20 fire trucks rushed to the scene and it took them about an hour to bring the fire under control and stop it spreading to other areas of the market. Chon Buri Governor Thawatchai Srithong, who went to the scene, told the media there that the fire had spread quickly because most of the shops were made of wood and other inflammable materials. Popular Post Sydebolle Posted September 8, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 8, 2023 Good riddance; the insurance thought might want to seriously investigate the "sparks". This place never made money and hence was yet another tourism-related loss leader. The people around that area praise the Lord as this endless avalanche of Chinese buses (loaded with zero-dollar red brethren from the North) clogged the roads around that "attraction" like what a single bulb does at night to mosquitoes after heavy rain - total traffic jam disaster! 5 2 2 1 1 1

It used to be a nightmare with buses double parked on Sukhumvit road and then driving 500 mtrs to do a U turn back to Pattaya, a lot of accidents. But since the road has been upgraded to four lanes and a hard shoulder and the U turn closed its not so bad, also see a lot less busses stopping there as well now. I checked my surveillance cam that is looking in that direction and it sure did light up the sky last night. We have to drive right past it to the shops this afternoon. 2 1

Insurance fire scams are common.......I have heard the place was not exactly rolling in the money ......A 50 million baht payday must sound pretty good to a so/so business.... Some gasoline and a ligher is all thats needed.. Edited September 8, 2023 by redwood1 2 1

Popular Post Reginald Prewster Posted September 8, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 8, 2023 I have been (forced by my visitors) several times at the floating market and always thought, how they can get along with their "twist wire/tape electric installations" and 2 phases without grounding. Especially when everything is made from wood. There is a reason that in Europe an electrician goes through a three years apprenticeship before he/she can be called an electrician.. 4 1 1
