No parole for Thaksin… yet

Featured Replies

Phew, after 2 days without a Thaksin story 2 come along together. I was beginning to suffer withdrawal symptoms from the fun that the Mr T hate mob comments give us.

As a poster here hinted: Look at what the government are distracting citizens attention from with this circus. This distraction tactic works in UK. When the government are asked "where's all our money that you handed to your donors and cronies for useless PPE? " a minister is wheeled out to say "Stop the boats! " It works in UK with the hard of thinking.

I suggest the following: If he is sick, he should stay in the hospital. But obviously the hospital is not jail. So, the sick days should not count as days in jail. If he is healthy enough ag

  • Does it  really  matter  any more? He is here. The sky has not  fallen.  Look to see what the distraction is about  !

He is probably sat in his smoking jacket and slippers, eating truffels and drinking dubonnet. He isn't worried in the least.:cheesy:

well that could take a very long time since he hasn't yet seen 1hr inside a jail cell in almost 3 weeks

Whether hours or months, I think his jail cell will not look like other jail cells.

February, 2024 was floated by "an official" yesterday.

What the Thais do with Thaksin is none of my business. Right now it's the political corruption in my hometown of San Francisco that concerns me because it directly affects me.

These idiots must think we are fools ask the fugitive when he will be freed he already knows the answer to the question it was all agreed before he returned to Thailand  meanwhile he lives a life of luxury in a private hospital suite in the Police hospital no doubt with a laptop and mobile phone and of course high quality food afforded only to billionaires

Used to go to Singapore regularly on business. The number of people who told me Thailand is ting tong. Wish I could defend the country but I cannot.

"Yet", being the operative word.........english and Thai, both meanings apply in this case.

UPDATE:

Thaksin’s Parole Request Can Be Filed in Feb

BANGKOK, Sept 19 (TNA) – Ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra has not yet applied for a parole application and he currently does not meet the criteria to do so, according to the Corrections Department.

In response to reports that Mr. Thaksin had applied for parole program, citing severe illness, disability, or being over the age of 70, spokesperson for the Corrections Department Sitthi Suthiwong confirmed that neither Mr. Thaksin nor his family had submitted a parole application.

The prison will consider and submitting cases for the Corrections Department evaluation. The correctional facility must evaluate individuals based on their qualifications, he said.

Normally, the individual must have served at least 2 out of 3 of their sentences. For special cases, the criteria include being over 70 years old, suffering from severe illness, and serving at least 1 out of 3 of their sentences, or having a sentence of at least 6 months. The longer period will be applied.

If he is healthy enough again then he should go to jail and then they can start counting how much time he spends in jail.

It's hospital or jail. One or the other, make up your mind.

I am not saying you are wrong, but I hope you feel much the same about the unelected coup leading ex PM.

"When will Thaksin Shinawatra make a miraculous recovery from all of his illnesses?"

He'll buy that next month.

Or a new regulation will appear by magic tomorrow and he will walk unaided in perfect health from the police hospital royal suite.

Is there any one on this forum who really cares what happens to Thaksin or is this just a different thing to piss and moan about. Thaksin has no affect on my life inside or outside of jail, turn him loose, I will lose no sleep either way

good luck to him, then we can get on with our lives.........Cheers

It seems to think after he is out of jail, he will be quiet and play with the grandchildren.

I hope you are right. But I wouldn't bet on that.

I thought you have to serve 1/3 of your sentence to get parole. If his sentence is 1 year then he needs to serve 4 months, so he's got at least another 3 months in hospital to serve before he's paroled, by my reckoning.

So I presume that his illness(es) will keep him in hospital for another 5 months? ????

What's the odds on parole being granted before then on the grounds of "?????????????????"

I have serious doubts that he is seriously sick. Insufficient oxygen in his fingertips.Give me a break. I get that when I ride my bicycle for more than an hour or two. High blood pressure, millions of people have that. You will see ,as soon as he gets his parole, he will be as fit as a fiddle again .

"..............he must remain incarcerated for at least one-third of his jail term or at least six months (whichever is the longer), as required by the rules.

So by my reckoning, it's 5 months, but I have my doubts as to whether he will serve that long!!!

Yes, that's why I said english and Thai, depends on which language you're using; could apply either way. 5555

OK, here's a question.  A Thai friend tells me Thaksin has other charges to answer for.  Is this true or has all the other charges been included in this charade?

Don't worry.  Thaksin will find a way to be out of jail/prison very soon.

Is he still in jail even?
