Trump liable for fraud, judge finds in New York civil case

Donald Trump "repeatedly" misrepresented his wealth by hundreds of millions to banks and insurers, a New York judge has ruled.

The decision resolves the key claim made by New York's attorney general in her civil lawsuit against the former president.

"The documents here clearly contain fraudulent valuations that defendants used in business," the judge wrote.

It is a major blow for Mr Trump before the case goes to trial next Monday.

An attorney for Mr Trump called the judge's decision "a miscarriage of justice" in a statement on Tuesday evening.

Attorney General Letitia James sued Mr Trump last September, accusing him, his two adult sons and the Trump Organization of lying about his net worth and asset values between 2011 and 2021.

Ms James claimed the defendants issued false business records and financial statements in order to get better terms on bank loans and insurance deals, and to pay less tax.

In a trial that will now resolve six remaining claims in her suit, she will seek $250m in penalties and a ban on Mr Trump doing business in his home state.

The non-jury trial is scheduled to begin 2 October and last until at least December.

In a pre-trial phase of the case known as summary judgement, Ms James had asked Justice Arthur Engoron of the New York state court in Manhattan to rule on her claims.

His vow to make America great again has had the same effect as Vlad Putrid's vow to discourage Ukraine and others from joining NATO ie he achieved exactly the opposite. In the case of Trump, the damage to America's image that he and his ignorant and sometimes rabid supporters have caused is incalculable.

Well well well another democrat state doing what ONLY the democrat states are doing. What a totally stupid thing to do - Trump will now simply take all of his business and wealth (reported at 2.5 billion) to Florida - people will lose jobs and now be fighting to get a job with the 100,000 odd newly arrived migrants. The $250 million is about 50 days of putting up the NY migrants. Trump will be well rid of the hellhole that is now NY. Just another nail in the coffin of that democrat state. Trump employs (2015) 22,500 people ish - those in NY can now wave goodbye to their old life.

Trump  up is the biggest con I think in the history of America, he filed the biggest bankruptcy of anybody in America what he says is a lie. I’m still amazed that he became a president who would vote for such a creep.

So where's the victim? One would think that banks would show due diligence in responding to any loan application and their foremost question would relate to the applicant's ability to repay the loan. History shows that such a loan had legs and the lender would have no problem in approving that application

So the the law abiding tax payer and the government are also victims here. But cult followers always have an excuse why the dear leader/rapist/conman/traitor is never at fault.

And sadly they proably will?

I wonder if there's a law or whatever which can prohibit a named person from receiving donations?

This case proves there should be.

So Trump’s wealth is reported at $2.5Billion.

Q1. Then why is he begging his supporters for money to pay his legal fee.

Q2. Why does he need to use a bail bondsman to raise $200K bail?

Q3. Are you going to stick around to discuss what happens when Trump has to find the $250 Million penalties for this case?

I have a bridge I want to sell.

It would be interesting if his taxes and other financial documents were used as evidence in court.

If you are that sure that Trump is the real victim here then you should dig deep into your pockets and give all your savings to help this poor billionaire get justice. Remember they aren't coming for him, they're coming for you. He's just in the way.

Does the (clearly blinkered) all-seeing-eye have a rational justification for claiming that Trump is "a traitor"?

If I was Trump, I'd liquidate whatever I have, or could, move to RU, and let all my businesses fold up.   Keep them tied up in litigation long enough that they'd fall in disrepair and not worth it for anyone to buy, even on the cheap.

Leave a bunch of eyesores, and sadly, too many people out of work.

Trump doesn’t need to do any of that.

The court will liquidate Trump’s NY businesses and my bet that will result in the rest folding with no help from anyone.

Yep, I've always found it impossible to believe that a "billionaire" has to pay only 750 bucks of income tax!

If it ties them up in litigation, and the sit empty, then not they might not become marketable.  Though surely plenty of corrupt politicians with RE connections, where they'll make a mint, if state takes control.

Or better ... cancel all the leases, and ask Bush & Cheney for some help in the matter.

Hear it worked out great for Silverstein, a couple decades ago ... ????

What a stupid comment, you think bank fraud, insurance fraud, tax fraud is OK?

2.5 billion reported by Trump, who just has been found out to inflate his wealth to get bank loans.

Mar a Lago 1 billion which should be 18 million.

Have you read anything about the case?

And the distractions and puppet show continues. While the real issues are ignored and conveniently not reported. The Hegelian dialect works wonders and never fails. The media never lies, politicians always tell the truth. The left or the right have moral standing, look what they have done in the past, fill in the blank, make your argument send links to "facts".

Deception on both sides is abound. We are all being fooled and feed lies for a reason. One only needs to look at historical facts and the reality of today's world. Truth has always been elusive but easy to find for those willing to take the time. Find out for yourself instead of listening to scripted narratives.

Here's an idea, read a book they aren't banned YET. Seems questioning everything and proper research is dead. No doubt I'll be demonized and or ostracized for thinking such individual "radical" thoughts. Not asking anyone to believe me, in fact, the exact opposite. Good day all.

Don't worry, you won't be "demonized and or ostracized" - your statements are a bunch of blah blah blah with no actual positions taken or points made.

Watched a feed from a Facebook post by Glenn Kirchner (spelling?) today (he was a top end prosecutor).

Glenn reckons the 250 mil is a beginners figure and this could go much much higher by the end of the proceedings.

Trump is royally screwed, and isn't it such poetic justice after decades of ripping of contractors, stiffing banks, bullying and threatening and suing anyone who asked him to pay his bills, lying and defrauding the nation through bogus illegal tax returns.
