Thalang –Twenty-eight Chinese nationals who entered the country with tourist visas were arrested after they were found illegally working at a construction site in Cherng Talay.

The Region 8 Police told the Phuket Express that on Tuesday (December 26th) they and the Phuket Employment Office inspected a construction site at a hotel in Baan Layan. Twenty-eight Chinese nationals which were 27 men and a woman were arrested.

They were found doing construction and interior decoration work. When they saw Thai Law Enforcement officers, they tried to escape but all were arrested. They were taken to the Cherng Talay Police Station to face charges of working without permission.

Did the catch any Russian taxi drivers taking them to site 🤔

I think it's a lovely gesture that they should give up part of their dream holiday to ensure the Belt and Road projects are kept on schedule.

Along with the construction site manager, Mr Her the Chinese man and site owner?

Unclear from the link.

Sad that the Thai minimum wage, which I presume they would be getting paid, is more attractive than what they may get at home.

A question often asked,,, I suspect a brown envelope takes care of it. I often wonder what happened to the shrimp farm owners who were treating foreign staff abysmally during covid....they had to be offloaded and were being dumped at bus stations mercilessly.

And they want them to come in visa free. Wait, they would catch much more sooner.
