Been donating to the temples for years now, still not healthy, wealthy, lucky or wise

I have been pouring money into the temples for years now.  Done the ceremonies everything.  Still no good luck.  Not even small a lottery win.  Should I send the boys around to pay them a visit?  A few of those gold statues to repay the debt?

As far as I understand the contract is legally sound.  Meeting of the minds, I give them cash they give me luck.  My side of the contract was delivered.

How about you?  Do you visit the temples often?

Sorry , and without trying to be rude, but just truthful.   From reading your posts I think your past the help of a temple and need a Psychiatric or Mental Health Specialist. 555555

  • Have you considered upping your donation?

  • Wealth can be measured in many ways.   You are here, you seems to have reasonable health, you havnt been hit by a truck or succumbed to substance  etc, maybe NONE  of that would be the case

Think of all the bad things that DID'NT happen that could have happened!  :jap:

Rest assured, OP  Your largesse has not gone un-noticed and the good luck you so richly deserve is in transit from the China clearing office of such rewards.  You will be notified of the delivery date once the good luck clears customs.

The donation box tally crew appreciate your cash contributions though they did find the bags of .25 satang coins somewhat annoying. Paper money usually gets quicker results. (Please note: NOT the Chinese burning paper money)

A fool and his money are easily parted.

Occasionally with the wife, though I never engage in any of the rituals, so no, not a single ฿.

LOL.

You should have done research first then.

Who is going to give you luck? They don't have a God to do so, and the monks are just men.

They also believe in suffering, so letting you win would be against that.

https://education.nationalgeographic.org/resource/buddhism/

Buddhists do not believe in any kind of deity or god,

..........................................

Buddhism is one of the world’s largest religions and originated 2,500 years ago in India. Buddhists believe that the human life is one of suffering, and that meditation, spiritual and physical labor, and good behavior are the ways to achieve enlightenment, or nirvana.

Same for me, go along to keep the little lady happy, might “ saatoo “ [sic] her 20 baht note for the flower and candle etc  but that’s about it.

My bil was a monk for 10 years, he entered when his kidneys failed and spent the next 9 years having dialysis, eventually his name came up for a transplant and he left the temple a year after.

Of course, his faith in Buddha was the reason for his survival, I could argue that point but I keep quiet …… after all I am only a mere mortal !

You need to buy an amulet ..the bullet proof one, the lucky one,and the stay in good health one...

Wealth can be measured in many ways.

You are here, you seems to have reasonable health, you havnt been hit by a truck or succumbed to substance  etc, maybe NONE  of that would be the case if you HAD NOT contributed.

You have a roof over your head, clothes on your back and food on the table, money in your pocket.

Be grateful and recognise what you have that millions do not.😉

Maybe you have received luck but not in a way you are expecting it. I'm still in good health for example, I haven't had any accidents on the road or speeding tickets.

I generally give a few baht each time I go but want nothing in return.

How do you know how much less healthy, wealthy, lucky or wise you would be if you has not be so generous to the temple?

I mean look at this thread, the amount of wisdom conveyed in it  is astounding.

My Thai girlfriend strongly believes in Buddha but not in temples

I agree with her - by all means believe in your chosen God but beware of the institutions man creates in his or her name.

Op, You need to buy a new amulet, and make it an expensive one.

I went to a temple with a Thai woman, she paid a monk to have her fortune told (I think).

After we left the temple she told me the monk had offered that for a hefty fee he would cast a spell on me to fall in love with her and marry her. Apparently she wasn't tempted to do that.

I don't think that is mainstream Buddhism.

My wife donated more than a million to her village temple.....

And it worked.....

She met me🙏

maybe you need to get into a car accident first ? then play the lottery.

A lot of monks also double as fortune tellers.  Let them read your future.  You might need a special ceremony to ward off the bad luck.

My wife took me to one a few years ago.  He said I was going to get very ill within the next year.  So he did a special ceremony where I was ceremonial put to death and then reborn to change my future.  It must have worked, I'm still here a few years later.

Wouldn't give them the steam of my p!ss.

You forget to add still stupid. Why on earth would you give them money or anything? Most are criminals and would sex your wife if given a chance or maybe your son too. hmph..
