White House Considers Slashing China Tariffs to De-Escalate Trade War
If the Chinese really were holding talks with the USA they would say nothing. They wouldn't be saying this: China says there are no negotiations with the US over tariffs China on Thursday denied U.S. President Donald Trump’s assertion that the two sides were involved in active negotiations over tariffs, saying that any suggestion of progress in this matter was as groundless as “trying to catch the wind.”.... “China’s position is consistent and we are open to consultations and dialogues, but any form of consultations and negotiations must be conducted on the basis of mutual respect and in an equal manner,” said Ministry of Commerce spokesman He Yadong. “Any claims about the progress of China-U.S. trade negotiations are groundless as trying to catch the wind and have no factual basis.” https://archive.ph/hjQDA This is the kind of language used to humiliate an opponent. I think China's goal is to humiliate Trump. -

White House Considers Slashing China Tariffs to De-Escalate Trade War
C'mon, man! I know you don't like to read the text of the articles you link to, but could you please, just please, read the dang headlines? Trump says the U.S. and China are 'actively' discussing tariffs. Beijing says that's false. While Trump said Wednesday that the world’s two largest economies are “actively” talking, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson responded that “China and the U.S. have not engaged in any consultations or negotiations regarding tariffs, let alone reached an agreement.” Oh, and don't miss this part! Still, Trump and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent gave conflicting accounts of the state of negotiations Wednesday, with Bessent saying “both sides are waiting to speak to the other,” without providing further detail. The secretary reiterated remarks he made the previous day, predicting near-term de-escalation. -

25 million deaths: what could happen if the US ends global health funding
Got news for you -- infectious diseases like COVID, the measles, avian flu, polio, malaria, etc etc DO NOT respect national borders. When the U.S. abandons its historically major role in supporting international public health initiatives, it makes the WHOLE world less healthy and less safe, including the United States. -
