The Canadian passenger, who attempted to open the door of a Thai Airways plane on February 7, claimed that he had to escape the aircraft because a criminal gang from Vietnam was after him. The foreign man was clean from drugs, and there was no mention of mental health issues.

The 40 year old Canadian man, Wong Sai Heung, was arrested on February 7 at Chiang Mai International Airport when he attempted to exit the TG121 Chiang Mai-Bangkok Thai Airways flight during takeoff. ThaiRath reported that his actions affected 13 flights and 2,296 passengers.

According to MGR Online, Wong is a computer engineer. He entered Thailand on February 3, visited Chiang Mai province, and then took the Thai Airways flight to Suvarnabhumi Airport en route to Canada.

It was initially reported that the man’s action was motivated by a panic attack. Officers took him to the Phuping Vajanivej Police Station in Chiang Mai for questioning of the true motive behind his act.

Yes, many of us would choose to jump out of a plane, as the jet is barreling down the runway taking off.

  • Strange but this photo seems quite a bit different to one posted yesterday.    Yesterday's photo must have been the Wong one.    This is the white one, sorry Wong one.... Ahhh bugg

There's obviously something Wong with him.🤔

Kind of working through the guy's logic, I can't think of any safer place he thought he could be than the downstream side of airport security, if a gang was trying to shoot him.

Maybe not 100% safe, but a lot safer than laid out on the tarmac, had he been successful at opening the door.  Or anywhere in public outside of airport security...

It would be quite the "Told you so" moment if he gets shot by a Vietnamese gang on his way out of Thailand.

Eh, excuse me...🤔..unless you saw the "gang" on the plane, then they must be on the ground?

If they're on the ground and you're about to fly at 10,000 metres.......???

Watching too many Marvel movies??

See he was wearing blue top and in photo just now, it's green.

Really? No mention, but make your own conclusions about that.

He believed that the gang had him in their sights and could successfully shoot him while the plane was on the runway at 80 kilometres per hour. The gang might be planning to destroy the plane, so he had to get off for his safety.

He endangered a plane load of passengers, assaulted an air steward, and caused hundreds of thousands of dollars of direct consequential damage in burned jet fuel and delays.

So yes he should be blacklisted and sent to jail.

That's a given BB......

The post stated ... no drugs and no mental issues.

So, stupid inaccurate reporting ...again?

Velly Wong..

Wow!

A Cantonese from Canada fearing gangs from Vietnam causes trouble in Thailand, which delays flights from Korea.

And this more than 30 years after a composer from Japan wrote a song named "We Can Make The World One!".

Chapeau, man!

We;;, it said no mention of mental issues. Not quite the same. Clearly he has some. As for drugs, that would only be speculation.

He may have mental health issues and needs to be evaluated by a shrink?

Whatever happens he has a very large fine and potential compensation to pay?

And considered as perfectly normal for a foreigner

No of course there isn't what he did and the reasons he did it, are perfectly sane and logical.

Or they want to charge him as a sane person.

A Canadian “Computer Engineer” arrives in Thailand 03 February, and makes his way to Chang Mai.

Just four (4) days latter on 07 February he’s on an airplane departing Chang Mai to go back to Canada via Bangkok.

That’s a Hell of a long trip for just a couple days in Chang Mai.

Who did he meet with in Chang Mai…?

What was discussed at the meeting..?

What threats were made..?

Was there going to be someone waiting for him Airside when the plane landed in BKK, or in YVR..?

I’m sure Thai DSI will be interested in “Chatting” with him….

Maybe he thought that they were on the plane or at the destination.
