Why are you now a worse Thai person?

To do that you need to understand it more.

Understand the culture, dot feel supperior , only different. There is no such thing as a supperior culture. Some cultures are better at some things and worse in others. and other cultures are better at other things and worse  and better than other . A superiority complex that many expats seem to have is simply Ethnocentrism. This superiority complex of expats manifests its self in many small ways and some big, and Thais know it. No one like a better than thou person.

Thai culture is what works with in the different dynamics of this society Same as your culture back home , and is dynamic. As conditions change so does culture adjusts to compensate.

Anything you study makes you a better person. But if I was you,  I would start by studying myself, if you do it honestly you might be surprised what you will find.

Don't give up your Western values. They are worth more, IMHO.

Good luck with that.

Probably more chance of winning the lottery.

Become a monk for 3 days.

And it's not about helping those in need. This is Thailand. It's all about you. The correct terminology is "make merit" for yourself.

Buddhism? What's that? Study lucky numbers and have a fear of ghosts.

You mean like the superiority complex most Thais have over:

Cambodians

Laotians

Burmese

Indians

Nepalis

Pakistanis

Muslims in general

Everyone in Africa

All black people

Anyone poorer

Anyone younger

Probably all farang in Thailand

Didn't you know the Thai social structure is entirely based on social class and hierarchy??

Why shouldn't we feel superior?

West Hollywood is the LGBT++++ center.   North Hollywood has Thai Town which is, perhaps, where the poster was suggesting BS could assimilate.  You know, lots of Thais and way the hell away from us here.

Well, now you are going against Thai culture entirely. This is your Western values showing through.

You must get revenge to save face.

I did check before my statement and found some evidence to back up my assertion, but am prepared to concede to someone with more practical knowledge than I.

Thanks for the correction.

A helmet, that's the one.

Plenty of Thais are afraid enough to use a condom,  but then they hop on a motorcycle (with their children even) and zoom off down the road (sometimes into oncoming traffic) without a helmet on at 100km/hr.

The mind boggles at the logic

Not at all , we are not talking about Thais we are talking about Farangs who want to become more Thai.

Do you agree  that people do not like those who act supperior to them? If you do and you want to be liked . then don't do it.

The Op wants , (at least fakes that he wants). to accepted by Thais and assimilate. Well if that's true then he can't act supperior to them.  The fact that Thais feel supperior to others in immaterial.

In fact if what you say about Thais is true, the OP would score points with Thais if he also thought that Thais are supperior to others and showed it.

It's accepted and expected in Thai society.

Almost everyone has someone else below them that they can be superior over.

Right, they don't like foreigners acting superior to them, cos to them, we aren't.

There are many things you could do and there'll be plenty of facetious suggestions on here but if this is a serious question, sign up for a language course and learn to speak Thai properly.

(And good luck in your recovery - it's a hard road, but it's worth it)

In social groups make 3 types of posts everyday.  Good morning,  this is what I ate today, Good night.

I agree with the other posters about staying in a Wat for 3 months. There must be some in Chiang Mai that cater for westerners with reasonable accommodation etc. I say this becasue all Thais assimilate Thai Buddhism and precepts as they grow up. Understanding and experiencing this thinking helps understand Thai culture and behaviours.

Having said this, a westerner can never fully assimilate into Thai culture. Thainess is like a cult and you have to be born into it. The downside is once you join the cult you can never leave.

I am an alcoholic and I have had a moment of clarity.

I now know what I want.

You do seem to have these moments of clarity on a monthly basis.

If you are an alcoholic and really want to address it: 1) you have my support, 2) there are organisations which will help you, why not go to them.

If you are just a piss head who enjoys posting <deleted> to wind people up then...

Well based on your past post where you were giving up drink, that last a week. You were in love with the Mrs for tolerating your sorry A$$, which lasted a week. Giving up womanizing, last a week. Your decision to leave because you had enough of the country and thais, last a week.  I give you zero chance based on your view of what is acceptable behavior toward thai women and the way you talk to and about thais. Your only chance is to shave your head and go to the nearest temple and see if they will accept you, at least for a week.

don't thai men cheat on their wives regularly here?

I thought that was an integral part of assimilating into the culture as a male.
