Swiss Tourist Attacked by Local Youths in Pattaya
With regard to MY incident, it has been suggested that by my attempting to remove the parking barrier, I was escalating the situation. The way I saw it at the time, by illegally placing the barriers to block my leaving, they had already escalated things. They were PROVOKING an escalation. This was a classic case of a bar owner illegally blocking off the street frontage of their property, very common in many parts of Thailand and not exclusive to the bar business either. This was not a no-parking zone and the barriers they had placed, although belonging to the city or the police, had been stacked there after being used to block off vehicular access during an event at this bar the previous week. The street was open to traffic and parking. I had parked outside this bar, but along with my friends, went to a bar directly opposite for about an hour. The bar I had parked in front of was double shophouse with steps leading up to a frontage shared by other businesses. I had not impeded customer access and indeed, his bar was already busy. It was only after returning to my car that I found my departure impeded. The rest, as they say, is history and a valuable lesson learned. -

Kamala Harris Faces a Pivotal Choice: California Governorship or Presidential Ambitions?
Guessed this would have been from The Guardian, CNN or one pf those like minded pathetic purveyors of left wing fantasy. Harris running for President has as much chance as Trudeau or Scholz being re-elected. The games over for the Left that went to far on themes like energy, immigration and identity politics. So that leaves Harris to stay in California - that bankrupt, woke ridden bastion of Left wing lunacy. -

Living the Thai life: Kingdom rolls out red carpet for big spenders
Agreed. All they'd have to do to prove that is to announce a Taylor Swift concert and see how quickly the local airports run out of private jet parking reservations. I don't see that as mutually exclusive. That bell can't be unrung in some places, but it doesn't have to be that way in future development. At some level of spending the wear and tear on the infrastructure (and the environment) exceeds the benefits of the revenue. There are many examples of tourist venues that started out as meccas for backpackers that upgraded over time. -

Britain’s High Streets Face an Uncertain Future Amid Mounting Pressures
It is a secular trend. Unfortunately the creative destruction of capitalism can be brutal to the businesses displaced by the new model. -

An inept, incompetent, word-saladist. A perfect choice for California governor.- 1

Liver and Bacon
I do not waste my time on anything that takes longer than 20 minutes to prepare and cook. (That includes opening and pouring the wine.) From opening the fridge to sitting at the table - 20 minutes max. The 'longest' meal that I cook is marinaded pork chop (TOPS), BBQ'd with tomato and onions. and frozen, spicy potato wedges cooked in the air fryer. It just fits into the time slot. As an aside, I do have candlelight dinners now and again. 🕯️🍽️🍷 🕯️ We get quite a few power cuts. Has to be cold chicken though, the air fryer needs electricity.
