I don't agree, the Ukrainians are now well-equipped, well-trained, have much better intel and more motivated

Russia is now relying on more and more 6 weeks in training conscripts, digging out old tanks and no control of the skies, they are getting their butts kicked, no doubt about it.

No one wins a war. One side may defeat the other but both sides lose in the long run.

Ukraine is going to take years to recover, despite your one sided post.

That's what the west likes to think. They, the west, have lost out badly. Stockpiles of weapons and ammunition wiped out, billions of Euros spent to no avail, sky high energy costs for the foreseeable future and rapid disindustrialisation. They have only themselves to blame.

And if there is any justice, Russian will pay for Ukraine's recovery

The West is correct.  Russia has set back their economy for decades.

You beat me to it. Ukraine, having made an IMO strategic error by attacking Kursk, now throws more troops into a conflict far away from where they are needed in the East.

Has Zelensky given up on the East and going for an easier "victory", or is it to gain something to trade in the coming negotiations?

Pretty clear it is not only to cause Russia to burn through its troops (and North Korea's faster) but also to counter what will likely be Russia's main demand from its disastrous war -- "we get to keep whatever we have right now."

Like I said, that’s what the west likes to think. Check out what the World Bank has to say about Russia’s economy vs the G7 although the content might be a bit too advanced for non-economically trained minds.

I never said a year ago that Ukraine would win the war, I said Russia was getting their ase kicked, and they still are.

Russia just throwing tens of thousands of their young men to try and win, it may well happen, but even a country the size of Russia cannot absorb casualties running near 900,000 dead soldiers and hope to ever call it a victory

The country is in massive decline, I feel sorry for the citizens of Russia and what is to come, I have met some really nice Russians in Pattaya, they are horrified at what is happening to their county.

I will repeat slightly different , Russian might win by sheer weight of being able to take thousands of casualties, but in reality as a country they have already lost

Ukraine has kicked their ase, I wonder how much of Russia's oil and gas industry has been destroyed since I posted that last year

While all Russia can do is slam missiles into apartment blocks in Ukraine

The flames at the Kristal Plant in Engels are getting bigger, the fire is growing and new tanks are exploding.

Putins wobbly empire

https://nypost.com/2025/01/07/opinion/vladimir-putins-wobbly-empire-means-us-can-stifle-his-threats/

Boasting of past achievements, he assured Russians, “We can be rightfully proud of what has already been done,” and confidently added, “We are sure that everything will be all right.”

Reality reveals a darker forecast: Putin is now weaker than at any point in his tenure.

Over the next year, the incoming Trump administration should capitalize on this vulnerability to its fullest extent.

Today’s Russia is a far cry from the stable and prosperous nation that he once promised to create. Instead, it is an isolated country embroiled in war and plagued by systemic decay.
