IRA Bomb Survivor Urges Gerry Adams to Reveal the Truth
Or sense out of Chomper! "Gerry Adams, a justifiably proud Irish Republican has consistently denied being a member of the IRA or having any involvement in IRA activities. The police and security services have never produced any evidence to contradict Adams statements on the matter and has endured death threats to himself and his family for having done so. He is a far too rare example of a man willing to engage in diplomacy to end a war. " The real question of course, is was he a tout? -

Introduction to Personal Income Tax in Thailand
Apart from the practical aspect of valuing an asset as of 31/12/23 and separating the before and after components, there is no gain in Capital Gains, until the asset is sold when the gain is realised. -

Why do you choose Bangkok to retire?
We have lived on the very northern edge of Bangkok for 20 years. Our house in located between the 1st and 2nd stage motorways, so easy to escape. Some traffic, but not like the CBD, and neither is the pollution. Our small gated village is quiet, safe, peaceful and has lots of trees and scrubs. I fully agree with Briggsy's "plus aspects", and would like to add, you can get the best medical care in Thailand! And I'm talking about gov't hospitals, not private. The gov't doc who did both my shoulder surgeries is one of the very best in Thailand, and I could have had him do it at a famous private hospital for 4x the price. No, thanks. Remember, when you get older, excellent medical care becomes even more important. Also, note that from Bangkok you can easily drive to Pattaya, Hua Hin, Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai. Also, the best flight connections. We are very happy here. -

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
I don't know anything about this. After reading your post I went to the Thai government Revenue Department web site, and using their 'search' function I did a search for "LTR". It provided this PDF link: https://www.rd.go.th/fileadmin/tax_pdf/pit/2565/271265PIT95.pdf ... so yes, there does appear to be a tax form that mentions LTR visa ... But frankly - I need to 'digest' this a bit as it is not clear to me if this is applicable to all LTR visa holders. It might be. It might not be. It does state "Highly Skilled Professional" so maybe it is only applicable to such. I don't know (yet) -

Foreign Tourist Swallows Traffic Ticket in Odd Pattaya Incident
That's about as shallow of an understanding as I can imagine one to maintain, not to mention impossible to defend with any intellectual honesty. I suppose that would mean that I believe your understanding is about as ignorant as can be. -

Thai Taxi Driver Assaulted by Foreigner in Pattaya, Calls for Justice
Thai Taxi Driver Assaulted by Foreigner in Pattaya, Calls for Justice A Thai taxi driver, Mr. Chiwun Chimphlee, was assaulted by a foreigner in Pattaya on December 18 while assisting at a cannabis shop. The attack, captured on CCTV, left Mr. Chiwun with severe facial injuries, including a ruptured blood vessel and cuts. Despite filing a police report and providing evidence, no arrest has been made, frustrating the victim. Mr. Chiwun turned to the media, urging authorities to act, citing concerns about public safety. The case highlights the need for stronger legal enforcement to protect Thai citizens from tourist-related violence. Police investigations are ongoing. -

My name on the chanot
Having a Usufruct is probably the strongest protection for a non Thai. While you do not/can not own the land you can do things like renting out the land and that can last beyond your death. With an usufruct almost the only thing you cannot do is to sell the land. However it depends on the local head of the land department if you will be allowed to get an usufruct on the piece of land. A Chanote title, also known as a Nor.Sor.4.Jor (NS4J) is a land title it is not possible to have a land title for a house so that is not correct. -
