It is kind of surreal sometimes, for those of us not young, but not old.  You have a heated debate with someone, then you see another post from them, and it says "I'm 75", and you think, "Oh".

The thing with online discussions is, you often think about people as being roughly the same as you, so reality always comes as a bit of a surprise.

I agree.

But then there are the millennials, they are just different. 😉

I don't remember how old I was. But I remember her from Color TV - not black and white anymore. So maybe I was already 8 years old or so.

Yes! She was a stunner in her country music scenes too. Simple and natural beauty!

Like an earlier poster said "raw beauty"!

Some members on online forums organise get-togethers, so that members could meet personally.  This can be nice, sometimes.

If that is the John Holmes I think you mean, I never heard of him until after I was discharged from the Army in 1973.   And it was several years later too.
So, not an adolescent idol.   Makes me wonder how old you are.

Do you know who George Washington Carver is?

And somewhat misinformed , his name is Rob Halford,      Nothing  "naive" about you  picking gay singers as your idols, You are just more perceptive than you give yourself credit for  Some of the above didn't "come out" until late in life so you can obviously spot them. Out of interest   which was your favorite musical ?

Tommy by Elton John.

Was it her that did a movie called deep throat ?

Ah it was I wanted to Upload a GIF but they are against the rules here on their content.

It was the first 'porn' movie I ever saw, at an 'Adult' cinema, My Nympho GF took us to see it, I was about 25yrs old. She was the only female in the place.

June Allyson was my 1st love, I was 10 years old when I watched this movie and the op has reminded me that I have to watch it again, if only for the music.

Fess Parker as Davy Crockett.  As a kid, I was entralled by the way the Alamo eposode ended.  The image of Crockett swinging his rifle at the wave of Mexicans has stayed with me all my life.

On the female side, I loved Annette Funicello.

In honour to one of the first porn saw on bootleg VHS from the Mitchell Bros Theatre in San Fran I am hoping the proposed revision to Thai content law will allow local producers to mount a remake of ERUPTION- 1977 called .

Dick Cavett was great.

Yes they had some intelligent television back then.

Don't freak, people said Negros back then.

James Baldwin didn't become an idol for me until adolescence though.
