My vacuum cleaner wont suck

Featured Replies

I have a Samsung 1800 watt VC and although the motor is running ok, it wont suck up the dirt. Does anyone know if repairing it is feasible. Thanks

Call Samsung Customer Service and ask them.

Technically no cleaners suck.

A pressure differential arises due to the motor driven fan which pushes air out the cleaner. This causes air to be pushed into the cleaner due external atmospheric pressure. This moving air, being pushed into the cleaner by the atmosphere, carries the dirt into the cleaner.

Hope that helps.

What a pity. The one I picked up last night was the best vacuum I've had in quite a while, could suck chrome off a bumper. Could even suck a durian through a garden hose.

NOOOOOOOO.....gas particles can't be pulled (not to any degree).......they have to be pushed.

See me after class.

I seldom use my vacuum cleaner, I'm going to sell it, it's just gathering dust.

How?

Gas particles can only push.....they can't be pulled.

How do you imagine a simple drinking straw works?

They all suck. Have never had a good one.

  1. Check the filter - maybe clogged.
  2. Does it blow on the other side?

Same thing happened to mine last week. Pulled the filter, soaked and scrubbed it. No air could get through it it was so filthy. Made sure no hairballs were stuck in the hose. Now it works like new.

Mine blows both sides! At once!

No hair on his balls. So not a problem.

Empty the dustbag. Pretty easy to do. If the dust bag is full then even with the motor working it won't suck anything up as nowhere for the dust to go .

Guess you are in a huge amount of pain today.

Have you tried emptying or changing the bag inside?

I guess it's a bit like a new girlfriend, Great at the start but over time they get tired and finally can't be blowed.

Same with any relationship, once the sucking stops, it's over,

So is it atmospheric pressure which pulls my hand into the pipe if I cover it, or is it the lower pressure on the machine side?

Look at all the parts where air goes through. From the part where the air is sucked in, the hoses, inlet, filter, motor, output, everything.

I have a modern Dyson vacuum with display. It didn't work so good anymore and the display showed something like: Clean input nozzle. I looked and checked and cleaned. Nothing changed. Then finally I looked at the output, which was (not visibly) clogged. So much about modern technology.

Atmospheric pressure...try to think of 7 miles of air crushing down on you.....it pushes your hand into the pipe.....gas particles inside the pipe can't pull on your hand.

Surely it is the difference in pressure which pushes my hand onto the pipe. Slow the cleaner down and there is less push/pull.

And is it atmospheric pressure which forces the bits of dust out of your carpet and into the machine?

Pushes...key word...slower the cleaner less push...and yes...the 7 miles of air we live in does all the pushing....spot on.

Are you that vacuum cleaner salesman that just escaped from Alcatraz?
