I used to leave my NIKE shoes outside for a long time. Then one day I washed them and hung them up to dry....then they were stolen! Of course...who want to steal dirty smelly shoes!!  Also, many shoes have been lost lately due to some street dogs had puppies that just love to steal them from the houses to play with them and chew them up!! LOL!

There never seems to be any empathy shown by posters here when others experience misfortune. Why do you have to be so mean?

I've got a lot of empathy for you if you reckon this guy is serious.

He's a phoney, a fake.

Opportunistic theft is common at Thai beaches. Why is anyone surprised?

The only surprising aspect of the thefts is that tourists would be surprised that they were  robbed.

I have seen people running about screaming because their wallet was stolen from their pants. It's why the police post signs to  watch your valuables and to lock them up.

It is becoming very common in the USA. The thieves are after E bikes. Just read two estories of $ 3,000-5,000. E bikes being stolen in my area. Leave your garage open and the E bikes are gone in minutes. Usually they steal it in the early hours of the day.

Could be a lie for sm attention. If in Pattaya could definitely also be Indians. Temple shoe theft is very much a thing in India

I was ten days walk into the backcountry of Nepal in the 80's staying at a guest house with a drunk obnoxious German. We all left our boots by the wood stove to dry overnight and guess who's boots had disappeared by morning?

Either the dude on the beach was an <deleted>, or the crime was committed by someone who usually does their shoe shopping outside the temple doors. No news here...lets move along.

In other news: in an outrageous act this morning a morally depraved neighbour dog stole the daughters left shoe.

A broom and short chase managed to recover the robbed shoe.

Having big feet, my shoes are mostly useless to most thieves, but I’ll be more vigilant next after reading this terrible news.

On the other hand it could have been worse for him he was TikToking in Cambodia

Vid & photos proving the story is true ... that he's an idiot (if true).  Leave a 2500 baht product unattended in public, and I'd expect it to be stolen also.

And if something I want, and nobody is looking  ...

... save it, that's a joke 😎

That uncommon common sense so many exhibit :coffee1:

I've had good luck also, though a size 12 (US) & extra wide, so not worth stealing for most locals :coffee1:

A foreign man residing in Thailand expressed frustration after his shoes were stolen at a beach, sparking a discussion on the commonality of such incidents in the country.

TikTok user @imlukematthew shared a video yesterday, November 25, detailing his experience. He explained that he had ridden his motorcycle to a beach, left his shoes beneath it, and found them missing upon his return.

“I’ve just been robbed in Thailand. I came to the beach, parked my motorcycle, left my shoes with it, and now they’re gone.”

The clip also showed the exact spot where the shoes were left, highlighting that they were taken from directly under the motorcycle.

The foreigner further expressed his disbelief and annoyance.

“Someone stole my shoes off the motorcycle. Now I have feet but no shoes. Look, they’re gone. What’s going on? Why would someone steal shoes? My God, they were worth 2,500 baht, and they’ve just been taken. What’s going on? My God, do you really think someone just took them? Why? This is a bad day. What’s going on?”

As the post gained traction, numerous users commented, offering possible explanations and sharing similar experiences. Many speculated that the culprit might have been a dog, potentially having sneaked off with the shoes. Others shared their frustrations over the frequent disappearance of footwear, regardless of where they leave them, be it at the beach, a temple, or even their doorstep.

This incident also sheds light on the cultural practice of leaving shoes outside, which is common in many Asian countries, including Thailand. Visitors are often advised to be mindful of where they leave their shoes, especially in public or busy areas. Despite the frustration, many accept it as a cultural quirk and adjust to it over time, reported KhaoSod.

Maybe he put his shoes under the wrong motorbike? Or he forgot that he came without shoes? 😂
