Trolley folly: Tipsy tourists’ wild hotel ride in Koh Phi Phi (video)

In the latest wild escapade from the sun-soaked shores of Thailand, two young female tourists were given a ride of shame as local police were forced to wheel them back to their hotel on a shop trolley.

In a scene right out of a holiday nightmare, 19 year old Australian Tahli Benson and 23 year old German Sina Baumann found themselves being wheeled through the streets of Koh Phi Phi Island on a seemingly ordinary night gone awry.

After reportedly knocking back one too many on the evening of November 19, The Metro reported that the duo passed out cold, unable to be revived by concerned onlookers. With the road too narrow for a car, enterprising police officer Saneh Jualong commandeered a nearby store’s pushcart to resolve the boozy fiasco.

A viral video capturing the staggering sight showed the two women drooped over the trolley, as Officer Jualong valiantly rolled them across the bustling street back to the sanctuary of their hotel.

Once there, their friends whisked them off to their rooms, though not before the kind-hearted officer Saneh reportedly helped tuck one of the inebriated party-goers into bed, according to News.com.au.

Koh Phi Phi Island, famed for its stunning vistas and lively nightlife, is no stranger to such rowdy episodes. Police Superintendent Surasak Jaidee acknowledged this wasn’t an isolated incident, as officers have often assisted merrymaking tourists.

In the face of such revelry, Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health is now urging establishments to consider breathalyzer tests for patrons, in a bid to bolster tourist safety.

Being drunk and disorderly and in trouble in Thailand is nothing new. Last month a British tourist’s night in Pattaya went from bad to worse after he found himself in a brawl with two locals who’d offered to drive him home.

Too drunk to secure a taxi, the man, thought to be in his 60s, ended up battered on the pavement with a broken nose, bruises, and cuts—after allegedly turning on his would-be rescuers.

Pattaya City police responded around 3am on November 19, on Pattaya Sai 3 Road, where they found the British man injured and unable to provide coherent details due to his intoxicated state. According to a witness, identified only as Rattapon, the drama unfolded after a white pickup truck stopped, and a Thai man pulled the British man out, leaving him on the roadside.

Video comments about  poisoning in Laos.

Video about drunk teens in Thailand.

But nice of the police to wheel them home, wonder if the policeman would have been so helpful if it was elderly foreign guys, and not nearly naked teen white girls.

Thought drinking under the age of 20 was illegal, and the bar would lose it's license.

Good job the video wasn't taken in Manchester, else the guy with the camera would be risking a SWAT team bashing in his front door.

Zooming in (not a perv, honest), I think it's a trick of the light (shadow of the trolley bars) and my antique eyeballs :whistling:

Besides, if it really was a boob, I'd have to remove it.

Good luck with that one. Who is going to pay for the machines, and who is going to police it. Money is the key here, and not many bars will turn a customer away, especially if they are a bit worse for wear, and easy pickings on the bar tab.

What about male or LGBXYZ transgender boobs? Silicon boobs, or (flowing with the lastest AN theme of dog boobs)

I think to be Woke, just remove all boobs is the natural moderator response . 🙂

The new Thailand free tourist taxi. Now they'll have this news story and video to remind them of how much fun they had being wheeled like rubbish back to their hostel, otherwise they might never know, Unlikely they would otherwise remember. On a serious note, here is the opportunity of a lifetime for young people to shape their future around an adventure of a lifetime with all of the beauty and inspirational fun experiences one could hope to find only to anesthetize themselves into total numbness and go through it deaf dumb and blind. On top of which comes all of the not inconsiderable risk involved in putting yourself into that state. I find it sad. In my drinking days this only happened to me a few times, and that was more than enough. I think it was because I paid attention to what others looked like when they did this and said, ehhhh, no thanks. Also, I preferred hallucinogens (in the 60s-70s) which tended to steer me in the opposite direction from mental numbness. haha

You think they deserve respect after getting themselves in that state?

They are just lucky nothing untoward happened to them. And where were their friends?  No wing person?

In case you'd like to improve your language skills, silicon is the hard element that computer chips and glass (silicon dioxide/silica) are made out of. Silicone is hydrocarbon chain molecule comprising a class of rubbers, gels, and lubricants, including WD40, window caulking, and flexible kitchen utensils. Although i've seen a few botched surgeries where you really can't tell the difference between the boobs and sandbags.

Don't you remember doing stupid things when you were that age? Yes, it's a degrading way to behave in public, but I think the mode of transportation shows that the locals still afford them some respect and practicality in safely bringing them home. I wouldn't hold them in contempt unless they acted contemptuously. It all depends on the behavior. Falling down repeatedly as relatively innocent. And yes, it's more likely they might earn disrespect with drunken behavior, so I agree wholeheartedly about the risks involved. These risks can literally be fatal. I absolutely agree they should have had designated babysitters. I tell people new to Thailand - two rules: 1. Don't be stupid (this being a foreign country which they are not acclimated to) and 2. don't get falling down drunk [unless you have the aforementioned babysitter] which also comes uunder #1. Cheers.

Also have to wonder about the quality of their friends
