The vacant insecure biden reign can be noted for the sheer chaos worldwide it caused. I suspect just like with Saddam, that Asaad will be better than what follows, in Syrias case a resergence of ISIS.

I wonder who funded these rebels.... USA by any chance...?

The pentagon has been known to fund both sides of a conflict. The pentagon has been corrupted by the military industrial complex, they make money off killing.

That particular part of the world, and Syria in particular, is awash with weapons of various sorts, there are plenty of ammunition manufacturing plants, many in the hands of various rebels. Non of the various insurgent groups will be lacking stocks of weapons or ammunition. Turkey is the big regional economic player, and without doubt they will be funding their team, Saudi Arabia probably involved as well.

I doubt if the USA is funding anyone, except perhaps, indirectly, the Kurds.

I would say the opposite, the Yanks wanted to get rid of Assad since 2011,it was part of their 5/7 country  war plan under obama.

Putins support stopped them in 2015, but I guess now he is occupied so they seized the opportunity. <deleted> the USA

   Why shouldn't they ?

If both sides of a conflict want to buy weapons from the USA , then why shouldn't the USA sell weapons to both sides ?

   Its a business

Who has told you that ?

Trump made the right call by saying Best to Keep Out of the conflict.

Personally , I think their replacing one mad man with a group of mad men

Locals may be honking their horns now in joy but I highly doubt their lives and rights will get any better.

Which conflict are you referring to?

I've not really been following this story. By chance I was talking to three Kurdish guys a few minutes ago. They said they were pleased to see the end of Assad but worried about the rebels. I saw commentary yesterday indicating ( from a Muslim source ) that the rebels are bad news with the worst traits of the Taliban and ISIS running through a couple of the groupings.

The Kurds said to me that at best Syria will stabilise as Egypt did after the Arab Soring, but they think its more likely to result in a Libya level collapse. I can't see how that helps anyone and Turkey in particular will be like a cat on a hot tin roof in that event.

Can of worms. Out with the old , in with the new.

Whatever the ' new ' is , it won't be democratic or an upholder of human rights.

Musical chairs ,   Hope I'm wrong but been disappointed too many times.

Problem with the Arab spring was that it skipped summer and went straight to winter.

I'd suggest Putin has deliberately pulled the rug from under Asad. He benefits from an unstable Syria and doesn't have to support the old regime with arms when he is fighting a war in Ukraine.

It really doesn't matter to him who is in power, so long as chaos reigns it will help his influence in the middle east.

I'm sure he made it clear to the rebels that Russia wouldn't intervene.

How's fish head soup and fried grasshoppers?

If I eat an animal I like to eat just about all of it. I can't see any problem with fish heads that are eat the world over....the only objection would be personal blinkered prejudice.

Insects were originally a protein boost for Issan farmers living on a marginal subsistence diet. They are not a major part of the Thai diet, and whilst a good source of protein there is no need to indulge

At this stage, and Lavrov confirms in his sitdown with Tucker, those controlling the empty shell of biden are poisoning the well and leaving as much of a mess as possible.

As we saw last time Trump did miracles undoing the mess obama left in the MiddleEast. Can Trumps stiff broom work wonders again making the region safe and calm again.

We can't afford for democrats to EVER seize power again. What a clusterbang

Obama unfortunately did leave the middle east in a mess. Hindsight is wonderful though

I had different experiences with Syrians. I've met a couple randomly in Bangkok, who said Asaad was quite a decent leader, nothing major religious extreme in Damascus (where they were from), his daughters went to school, there was good nightlife with drinks, life was hard but good etc , before the uprising years ago the economy of Syria was doing very well .. he's appalled they could have let the military in such a weak condition to let extremists enter.

American foreign policy has been the laughing stock of the world since the early 20th century.

However it is no different with Biden.

Don't forget another thing the woke libturd crowd did was to kowtow to the Caliphate.  Enless jihad forthcoming I would think. The chickens come home to roost.

Until they let loose the sharia law enforcers.

The next domino stone fell. Norman Schwartzkopf warned Bush already 30+ years ago what would happen, if the local chieftains would be taken out of their golden palaces and thrones. Nobody listened to Schwarztkopf and the recent history proved him spot on!

It all started with Hussein, that vacuum created a domino effect, very much to the liking of the official US in Washington DC. Next milestone was to rip the CIA-carpet out from under the throne of Hosni Mubarak in Egypt. The North African "cleansing" continued via Algeria and included the finalization of unfinished business left behind by Reagan with his Operation El Dorado Canyon in 1986.

The Syrian war theatre found its momentary screeching halt by dethroning the nepotism of the Assad family. But the next chapter is being written already. Lets see, what is next - the vacuum will result in too many clowns in not enough circuses 😞

Russia at the moment

yes indeed.

Syria's former President Bashar al-Assad is in Moscow with his family after Russia granted them asylum on humanitarian grounds, a Kremlin source told Russian news agencies on Sunday, and a deal has been done to ensure the safety of Russian military bases.
