Now waiting to see if a postal application will be accepted (despite the rejection email for the online report saying fist 90 day after re-entry must be done in person

How early did you post the TM47.

CW wants 15 days prior to due date..

Few days less ok but not recommended.

Only post this in case you make change to doing it via mail in future.

Applying for annual extension has nothing to do with 90 day reporting.

There are some offices that do report at time of extension.

Several posts above are straight up incorrect.

If report window is open at time of annual extension then you can max that visit by doing the TM47 same visit.

Note: you do the extension first then the TM47.

At CW (mentioned earlier) you will attend different desks.

Thank you, I've been a little confused because my usual 90 day was rejected after my recent renewal.

I use an agent for my extensions, the agent included a small note when returning my passport saying my 90 report was due on another date.

So I will try again, a week before the due date, hoping it will be accepted this time.

Good luck.

Personally my next extension is Nov 2025 so it won't take much more to push me to just skip it along with TM30 and cop a fine.

It was 13 days before the due date (luckily my online rejected reply came back within 2 days, a few 'Approved' replies I got last year / early this took 2-3 weeks) so I might get away with it, got away with it with one when I was doing postal before and that was also late by a only 2-3 days, just got a "submit earlier next time" note in with the receipt.

Last time I returned to Thailand following a trip overseas was March 2020, the first application after that trip was made online and that got accepted so it took me by surprise when it got bounced this time.  Maybe that was due to covid lockdown though, I arrived literally the day before they shut the borders.  Either that or the 'policy' changed since then with in person reports (hopefully postal too) only being accepted.

First up ...13 days should be enough .

I have done exactly that with CW 13 early also.

Approved and had hand written note to do it 15 next time.

Re the reason not working now... they had idea to sync online reporting with TM30.

Result: forum rules prevent how to describe it. Thinking "balls up" allowed

Not done one for 7 years, why do one every year if at the same address?

Well

I applied for proof of address last week and I was told that I need to do TM-30 for my current (permanent) because my last TM-30 was from different province (I traveled to), even though I did 90 day report with my permanent address after that trip.
This happened to me for 1st time, however I read it that happens to some in past.

you do the way you think is right for for.  👍

I wait with bated breath to see if the postal application works.  Fingers crossed!  Maybe the IO being able to see the paperwork, including the last entry stamp, will swing it.  Either that or it definitely IS in person only now.

CW often don't even process till due date. So unlike some offices there can be weeks till return post approval.

By then 7 day grace for in person has past.

If that occurs when you eventually attend immigration take along the EMS tracking number (maybe avoid fine)

Use an agent, it's really not worth the hassle dealing with the cretin IO's.

Never truer words spoken.

Yeah, I have an appointment booked to do a report in person at CW on 7 Jan (2 days before the end of the 7 day grace period) if it isn't back by then (i don't expect it to be).  Just depends if I'll be out at IMPACT as to whether I'll bother.  My earliest "45 day before expiry"  for doing my Extension though is 22 January, if it's going to be rejected, better if comes back only a couple of days before then, I can then do both at the same time and maybe the EMS receipt and delivery confirmation etc will avoid a fine.  It's no big deal if doesn't though and I'd rather wait and see if the postal option does work rather than pre-empt it by reporting in person on 7th.  Meanwhile I'll keep juggling the online appointments.  Be great of the postal comes back approved.  Much less hassle.

Umm you do report at Building B CW

Doubt you will receive mail approval 5 days after due date.

My plan would be to attend immigration for extension when suits you.

Make appointment for extension followed by appointment for TM47.

I did this in Nov 5.

Link for appointment..

I know you report at Building B, been doing it for years.  My reference to IMPACT was merely because I often go there and if I happen to be there it means the trip to Immigration is not SUCH a ball ache.

Yeah I've got the link etc.  I use appointments all the time.  Just juggling the dates to see what best suits.  I will likely just wait until the extension is due.  If the postal 90 day comes back approved before, all well and good.  If it doesn't I'll just stick to my already booked appointment for the extension.  If the 90 day gets approved in the meantime, fine.  If not, I'll just eat the fine.  At least I'll know whether postal applications do or don't work after re-entry, at least until it changes again!

Agree. Have just changed thread heading.

Hahaha - well done Dr Jack. Ok, got to say - I HATE frustration lol.

To be fair, when I went in person with my lovely wife after the earlier refusal we rolled up at 8.30, it seemed the entire population of Myanmar, China, the UK, the US etc were already there. . I hunted for somewhere to sit waiting for my wife who was busy bribing an officer outside (no no, I didn't say that - honest) who let her park outside the entrance bless him.

She came in to see this vast multitude and me sitting leaning on my walking stick, we walked to the entrance to the offices and by then I knew I'd never last out the waiting but the security officer saw me struggling and told us to come in immediately. We walked through, found the appropriate window to queue up at, only one Indian family and another farang in front, massive queues at the other windows. I presented my papers and my wife said why I was there and I got given a disabled card, an I.O officer came and  led us off.

It seems using a walking stick, plus being 79 are grounds for compassion - good because my hips and knees were killing me. So when I say I hate Immigration it was not my experience in person but their utterly crappy useless computer system the still needs a rain forest of paper and an online system that also needs some experienced hands to correct it's flaws. The people I met were lovely and I cannot praise them enough.

Just sniping one piece from your post.

I align. Already had one hip replacement and back issue etc etc .

I love Thailand but annual extensions not easy for many folk.

Esp as I  deal with CW.

Soon will be using Agent. Maybe one more extension DYI.

Zero money issue. That's not the problem.

I've never had a problem with an online 90 day after renewing my extension.  Only time I had to go in person until recently was the first 90 day in a new passport.  I did however get an online application rejected by CW about a week ago, it being the first since I returned to Thailand in October.  Now waiting to see if a postal application will be accepted (despite the rejection email for the online report saying fist 90 day after re-entry must be done in person).  Not holding out much hope but if they do accept it, it will save me some hassle, worth the 50 baht to see.

Of course they have to accept your 90 day report by post is no reason to object it. The immigration office told me clearly to do my 90-day report online but obviously they don't even know what they're talking about because it was rejected.

So I've just renewed my extension, what you are saying my next 90 day report must be done in person?

You can try to do it online if it works it works but that's what I'm saying yes your first 90 days won't work or if you leave the country and come back in I think they're automatically being rejected because the dates that you enter of entering into Thailand.
