Popular Post Georgealbert Posted December 25, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 25, 2024 UPDATE Picture of arrest Pattaya police worked through the night to apprehend a gang of four teenagers involved in a violent robbery of an 80- year-old Belgian tourist, Mr. Richard Ander M. Van Bogaert. The attack occurred late on Christmas Eve in a secluded alleyway in Pattaya and left the victim severely injured. The gang, aged between 15 and 18, reportedly assaulted the elderly man with a 22-inch knife before fleeing the scene with cash amounting to 7,000 baht. The victim suffered serious injuries, including a deep head wound, after being struck with the blade and subsequently beaten. The suspects-three 15-year-olds, identified only by their aliases Arm, Crepe, and New, and an 18-year-old named Ton-were arrested on the night of December 25th. The police recovered the weapon, two motorbikes used in the escape, and clothing worn during the attack. Under questioning, the teenagers admitted to targeting the victim for money. The group claimed they needed cash to cover the cost of repairs following a motorcycle accident involving one of the suspects. The gang had spotted Mr. Van Bogaert walking alone in the dimly lit alley and decided to rob him. When the victim resisted their demands, one of the youths drew the knife and struck him. The attack escalated unintentionally when the knife's sheath slipped off, causing the blade to injure the victim. Following the assault, the group fled to Pattaya Beach, where they were later apprehended by investigating officers. The suspects, along with the recovered evidence, have been handed over to investigators for further legal proceedings. Charges are expected to be filed under Thailand's juvenile justice system. Police have vowed to ensure justice for the victim while highlighting their commitment to maintaining safety in the city during the festive season. Popular Post tomacht8 Posted December 26, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 26, 2024 What kind of degenerate idiots are these? Brutally attacking an 80 year old man because they need money for motorcycle parts. I hope that harsh penalties will be imposed to achieve a certain level of deterrence. Such cases are the worst publicity Thailand can ever have. Unfortunately, there are too many violent criminals walking around with the IQ of a white bread. 1 1 5

Andre0720 Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 Just wondering if Buddhism and all the fake polite words that are used ad nauseam, could be part of a solution, or more so part of the problem in this culture... 1

Popular Post iLuvThai Posted December 26, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 26, 2024 My 2 cents will most likely get some hate and that's ok, I'm young I'll get over it, ok not so young. My opinion for juvenile Justice applies everywhere not just Thailand. Whenever a juvenile is found guilty especially of something as heinous as this I believe they should bring back public flogging. Imagine it downtown at City Hall or Town Square. The juvenile gets their rear end tanned to the point where they can't sit down for a week. The public humiliation would be enough that they would think twice the next time they want to do something stupid. 18 & over go to jail. I got my behind tanned when I got caught stealing from a 5&dime as a juvenile do you think I ever stole another thing again. 1 6
Popular Post spidermike007 Posted December 26, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 26, 2024 Well good on the police for apprehending these low-life street vermin. Slashing somebody with a 22 inch blade in the skull is acting with murderous intent and at the minimum they should be charged with attempted murder and locked up for 20 plus years. One stupid act and their life is finished, and that's what they deserve. Their parents should also be punished severely for practicing an extreme lack of parenting skills. 2 2 7
Popular Post woodsplinter Posted December 26, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 26, 2024 Well done the police and the top brass in Soi 9 for directing and apprehending these feral thugs so quickly. This was a visious attack on an old senior person making his way home after a night out doing no wrong to anybody. This was robbery and attempted murder and all four not just one should be held responsible equally. The Thai justice system should make sure they serve 10 years each in jail with no early release. Never mind there age they were on the hunt for a victim and knew what they were doing. Once again. Well done Pattaya police.. 2 3 3

balo Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 This is an unprovoked attack by younger teenagers on bikes, this is very rare to see, even in Pattaya. Note to self , do not carry a lot of cash and maybe keep a wallet on you with some baht in it and just hand it over to anyone trying to rob you. Also do not walk in dark areas late at night, take a taxi home. 2 1 1

Gecko123 Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 I'm sure police recognized urgent need to track this gang down, and kudos to Pattaya police for swift action. Pattaya does seem to be attracting more of a criminal element. Are people still maintaining that there is no correlation between decriminalization of cannabis and probable increased use of other drugs and this increase in criminal activity? Seems like mugging of tourists may be becoming seen as an easy way to fund a drug habit? Predictable correlation in the West. Why do people think it won't happen here? 1
