TM30 Frustrations

Hi, I would really appreciate some help regarding the TM30 Online Reporting system here in Thailand.

I am on yearly (Thai spouse) extensions from Nakorn Ratchasima Immigration Office (IO).

I wish to travel soon to the UK, returning to TH using a re-entry stamp in passport.

All well and good, but unfortunately my IO requires I do a TM30 report within 24 hours after my return. And also unfortunately, I live very far from the IO, making such a report, in person, very inconvenient to have to do.

So...doing a TM30 report using the online system appears to sound like the ideal solution. Problem is, I can't seem to get my head around the whole registration process. Not on the official Immigration sites anyway. End up confused with more questions than answers. I did seek out some useful info' & guides about the TM30 online registration process (on this site) but I procrastinated in sorting it out and then the mobile device it was stored on recently blew up on me!

So could someone please offer some info on this? (Please note, while my IQ is not that low, I would love some super simple, uncomplicated step-by-step style directions on this, as if I were a 2 year old! 😉)

Thanks.

Thanks, lykes2fly. I had not seen this site. It's interesting, though it appears to be related to foreign business owners, which doesn't apply in my case.

But nonetheless, I do find it useful to read and to just know more about the system.

Cheers. 👍

  • As it is your wife that is supposed to do the TM30 why not just get her to register?  She then simply reports your presence as required.

  • I'd recommend making your wife the registrant.    Upload her Thai ID and the relevant house book.   Once the house is registered, you can use her account to file a TM30.

I suppose this must be a peculiarity of this particular IO, as the normal requirement is a TM30 report is not needed unless changing pp, permanent address or visa? So international travel with a re-en

800 baht? That's a big deal for me! I ain't a Rockefeller! 😉

Plus I think it can mess up the 90 day online process.

I'm glad to see, for a change, that nobody has replied arrogantly as happens so often: "If you had prepared for your retirement, this amount should be no problem." 800 Baht equals 4 months of lickable kanoms for my 25 cats.

As we all know,  translation from one foreign language  to English has problems

The below sections refer to the TM-30 ONLY and WHO and WHEN to file it.  The TM-47 is  NOT mentioned

I've seen many posted on " I have never...." so read....

Sections 4 & 38 of the Immigration Act.

AGAIN, how it is enforced and applied depends on LOCAL IO POLICY.

I got clipped for the 800 baht fine last time I went for an extension in Bangkok, because I did not complete a TM30 upon arrival.   So sat down tonight, and as I signed up, I made out a little instruction sheet, that hopefully someone will find useful.   Nice to have steps 1 and 2 complete, so I just need 30 seconds on my arrival day to complete step 3.

WHEW!  Apologies for those barely readable screenshots.  But you'll get the idea when you're on the actual page.

That's a very positive post. The fewer times one has to go to the IO, the better, eh?! 😉👍

What docs are needed to register as house master of "condo" to do the TM30, for foreigners and Thais..., a bit different:

-- Blue book , I think only locals get their names in there, so why needed for farangs

-- Chanote (both sides), I have seen these and all is in Thai, so how do they match farang names to English character by character...!?

-- Sales contract , these are in English, but not mentioned much...?

And of course Thai ID or passport for foreigners (just photo page !? Or visa page and entry stamp...)

Anything else...?

Been a few years since I registered as house master but am fairly sure I just used my passport and copy of my lease.

Possibly also needed copy of my landlord ID too but that does not ring a bell for me.

It is the "blue book", ie the house registration book, in which the Thai lessor, ie the person from whom you are renting the dwelling, is listed.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

When required, the "chanote", ie the land title deed, allows the matching of the names as shown in Thai language in the land title deed and in the house registration book for the building on that plot of land.

Do you own or rent the Condo?

If rented is the owner Thai or a foreigner?

When required, if you own the condo in which you live, the sales contract is evidence that you are the householder (เจ้าบ้าน), aka house master or house-master, which means the person who is the chief possessor of the condo in the capacity of owner as defined in section 4 and the householder and the owner and the possessor as referred to in section 38 of the Immigration Act.

Foreign owner, old guy, I'm helping out ...., putting Google Translate on condo Chonote even character by character not match the passport name correctly, so I thought condo sales contract might be needed... (his name is not on blue book at all)...

Or maybe Thai officials somehow match up Thai characters with farang names without issue ...! There must be doing this forever...!? 🤔

To be honest they should use Latin characters for foreign owners on Chanotes, and/or add their date of birth, ID/passport number, something..., even for Thai people, don't they have a lot of John Smith....??? There is nothing except name...🙄

You need a copy of the biodata page of the foreigners passport.
Copy of the address page in the Blue book.
Copy of Chanote.

The Chanute should list the address as in the Blue book, and the owners name as on his passport biodatapage.

What is a usafruct? 555... Almost poetic that eh? 555

I have often repeated that phrase to many confused people who get entangled in the maze of do's and don't and can nots that they bump into at the friendly immigration offices.

"What can i do !!! " They ask me .

At this point i just shake my head and say , "sorry mate..... use a fuct ! "

I'll answer my own question

Seems NOT to work on sundays, BUT all ok on Monday :-)
I filled a new report this morning and an hour later they BOTH showed up

Sorry for asking this question - i know it's been asked before - but I also recall there were mixed views.

So - if I am away from my usual long-term rented residence in Bangkok, and stay for a few nights in a hotel up country, do I need a new TM30 when I get back home? Or is it only required if one is returning to Thailand from abroad?

Txs!

There are mixed views because each immigration office has their own policy on this, and that policy changes from time to time at immigration offices. The only way to know for sure is to ask your immigration office.

But TM30 should be done online, so it should just be standard course to file a new one on return, takes 30 seconds.

I'm lucky enough to be able to do mine online, but many renters using agents, or with absent or uncooperative landlords, can have difficulty getting it done at all.

It's not a problem as long as you have a copy of the landlord's Thai ID and Tabian Baan.
