No stamp when leaving at Survanabumi Airport

Featured Replies

Hello there

I entered into Thailand at the main airport on Feb 17, and left at the same airport after six days in Thailand. I've just noticed on my passport (passport is UK) that there is NO exit stamp. The stamp I see says that I entered on the 17 Feb, and I could have stayed until 17 April. But like I said, there is no exit stamp. I've only just noticed it. Is this wrong?

If you're that concerned about it you should save the boarding pass stub from your last outbound flight and keep it with your passport.

Friend of mine just got back from a visa run to Vietnam.

Left last week no exit stamp, they just looked at his passport and handed it back.

Thats perfectly normal now...

Many passengers are now leaving (internationally) via the 'Auto-Gates' that do not stamp anything.

All your records are digital - so it doesn't really matter.

I'm sure if you excited through an auto-gate after your permission of stay, the system would flag you.

Its the same in the UK (has been for years) no exit stamp....  Its just more efficient.

Yes, I suppose everything is digital nowadays, stamps or writing on paper and certificates are not so important.  🙂

As a small side note I also did not get a stamp upon exit

this seemed to cause a bit of confusion to the immigration officer when I submitted my application to extend  Non-O  marriage..they also wanted me to update TM30  even though I was returning to the exact same residence..when I tried to update TM30 at the desk 20 meters away  there was nothing to update  as I was returning to the same place I was already registered at  !!!  anyway they did eventually accept my application to stay for another year...just try not to loose the plot..woosaa  woosaa.

I like the stamps - so no auto gates for me.

I didn't notice them anyway but I was in the fast track area which at the time of day I tend to travel is pretty much empty.

Really ??? - why ??  they just fill up a passport so we have to go through a replacement more quickly....

&.. when I use the FastTrak area - they tell me to use the Auto-Gates.

The changes that were made in June 2020 of no TM30 required after travel abroad if returning to your same residence went out the window in recent times.

It would seem so  however it also seems the left hand and right hand  are still not quite in sync.

I know you can apply to immigration to get some kind of report of entry and exit dates but this is my own personal record, scanned and backed up on my local computer and wherever I keep copies of such backups.

I've never filled an 'extra large' passport in all my years traveling so not worried about that.

It's not wrong. I know it's disconcerting a bit, I also got worried a few years ago when not getting a stamp leaving Mexico. I've been back 3 times to Mexico since then and each time no stamp. That's also the way they operate. So, I did not get worried when leaving Thailand a few months ago and not getting a stamp in my passport (EU).

I departed Thailand via e-gate in December therefore no stamp in the passport showing departure. I returned to Thailand early February and no problem whatsoever.

Yesterday I was checking into a hotel on a mini break and they asked me why I didn't have an exit stamp from my last visit. This was when they were copying my passport for TM30 purposes.

I pointed out my new arrival stamp and the lady just shrugged and handed my passport back. I'm assuming that as she didn't initially see the new arrival stamp she must have thought I was on overstay.

Understood - but passport stamps are not taken into account when proving tax domicile / residency.

(because ppl can have multiple passports & many countries already don’t stamp out).

Nothing wrong. Systems have been upgraded.

Stamps are a fun souvenir

It's brilliant.....................and if they can get facial recognition right it will avoid all the pratting about with staff checking boarding passes and passports. Enjoyed that experience in Hong Kong and it made it so smooth for boarding.

I retired 2 years ago and since then I have been asked for copies of EVERY page in my pasport when doing my tax returns in order to prove that I have been here more than 180 days.

Anecdotal: People still 'may' need to prove non-Tax domicile in their home country and in many countries a passport is not sufficient for this.

So we now need a new TM30 when we come back from abroad ?

Yes.

It's ridiculous. We don't have Monty python anymore however Thai immigration.

Personally I don't do the TM30 after return from abroad.

I do one just prior to annual extensions (CW) and so far has not resulted in fine.

Yeah it will be brilliant when the facial recognition (computer) says no...or even worse  thinks you are a most wanted terrorist !...the move to everything computerised is quite disturbing to my way of thinking,   eventually

(near future) will we be even able to think for ourself  without consulting the AI ?

You can auto check in now too. Last time came out, no line, lightening fast. I was practically through to departures  before my ride was on the motorway!

I only have to submit TM30 when I extend my visa once a year, never when returning to Thailand after travelling.

As so many other things, that really depends on how your local immigration office wants to have things done.

Maybe you could tell us which one you're using, for reference?
