Why not just stamp her passport and stick here on the plane with a 10 year ban? let somebody else deal with her,

For goodness sake - she broke the law. Why should she be let off? As far as I know, the overstay law applies everywhere in Thailand. Not just in Phuket.

Don't overstay you wont have anything to worry about. Easy really.

It seems clear enough to me. If she had turned up at the airport with her ticket, gone to the immigration desk and paid her 20,000 Baht fine she would have been allowed to depart.

But if she just tried to catch her flight (because she did bot have 20,000 Baht and/or was unaware of the self-reporting requirement) she would have been stopped and detained at Border Cotrol

Not just in Phuket.

I think that she should be able to be "milked" to pay off her fine.

Why would you want to do a 90-day report if you are on overstay

Where is your thinking

No money to be made in doing that. She will be held in squalor and her family extorted for thousands of pounds and also pay for a new flight before she is released.

Setup a holding pen at Suvarnabhumi airport and deport asap with 10 year blacklist... why muck around with them, reduce cost to Thailand and get rid of them.

Well done Imm ❤️

Obey the laws, or else.   She could have simple 'obeyed the lax law' and turned herself in, paid her ฿20k fine & 10 yr ban, and been on her way home, instead of the detention center.

Oh well, you just can't fix stupid :coffee1:

Publicize the hell out of it, as a warning to others.  Use a little common sense and respect local laws.

I am shocked that someone could possibly overstay their visa in Thailand.

How on earth was she able to stay here for so long without doing a 90 day report?

By the photo looks like she spent the time sunbathing

If she doesn't have any money for the flight back , Iuntil she have  I would  recommend the IDC until she has some.

She was leaving the country so she had a ticket. Try reading the post. 🤷🏼

I still feel loved and respected - maybe they just don't like you. Ever consider that? I don't like you already just because of the way you talk about Thai people. There's nothing wrong with cracking down on foreign lawbreakers. Give them some time in jail and then deport. Make sure they don't EVEN want to come back.

or whether she had made any attempts to report her status or rectify the issue with immigration authorities prior to her arrest.

Errrmmm, just ask them then!

It used to be if you got to the airport pay the max fine of 20k and maybe get a red stamp in your passport did she not flutter her eyes and blow a kiss to the IO  ?

Thats the only thing I can think of, they dont have the 20 grand, but is she doesn't have it now then she will never have it,

I thought you got a daily rate of money in the IDC  someone suggested 200 baht a day

No, you'll stand in front of a judge, getting an either 3000 baht or 6000 baht fine (depending on if you have a valid passport). That's it. No 20k penalty.

If you can't pay that 3/6000 baht fine, you will be jailed (not at the IDC) and your debt will be paid off 200 baht a day, until you're done. You will then be transferred to IDC, for deportation. You will be deported after you come up with your own ticket (no financial help from embassies).

There is a small additional fee for being driven to the airport though. That's it.

Been there, done that, a long time ago. Learnt my lesson, spent 13 days at IDC, horrible place 🙂

Just didn't have the 20K I guess. I would bet there are thousands like her there.

She lost track of time because she was having such a good time.

It's likely judging by her ethnicity that she may already have another passport

Cobblers, the only thing that is demonstrated is how stupid she is.

Since when has a, presumably, VE entry needed to do a 90-day report?

They obviously don't do it,

Even more obviously, they're not required to do it with a VE entry.

Been out of the loop, i read title as 207 month visa overstay.

Looks like smaller overstays like this one are now largely frowned upon?
