I know Thailand is cheaper than Western countries, I am thinking about getting all my teeth pulled and getting implants. So, how long will it take, including recovery time? I might not live that long, I am 78. Again, is it worth doing?

Up to you, I am 3 years younger and for me decided it is not worth it..

 

Now have no top teeth left, the 1 tooth + 4 crowns and a bridge fell out, Dentist say only 2 options, Implants 200k for just top teeth  or plastic plate 8,000 baht + 3 x pin removals + 1 x root @ 280 baht each. [Dentist advise remove 1 by 1 let heal before next removal]

 

Funny not  really a problem or getting used to it just cut everything much smaller 😀  so far had the broken root removed [took 2 months for that to heal] so will get around to getting the pins out sometime

I'm also 78 and decided against implants. I only need three, all rear molars, so I opted for little clip-in "Smart Dentures."   These are just a bit larger than a tooth itself, and do not require wires all over your mouth holding them in. I've been using them for the past 4-5 years with virtually no downside. Comfortable (don't even realize you're wearing them,) and cheap.
They cost about 3,000 Baht here, but not all dentists seem to be able to make them.

The aspect of dental work which is less expensive on Thailand is labor costd. Prosthetic materials,  which are the cost main driver for  implants, is high.

 

Implant cost per tooth seems to range 40-80 k baht depending on implant material and whether bone graft required.

I'm certainly not disagreeing with you, but damn.  40,000 baht for a few grams of "prosthetic materials"?  More like 350 baht for the materials and 39,650 baht for labor, overhead and profit.  Heavy on the profit.  For the lab, I mean.  Not the local dentist.

 

I wonder if it's like glasses in Thailand, that cost me 5x what Zenni charges online?  Even more than I paid back in the USA.

 

Rant over.  I could use some dental work, mostly cosmetic.  But not at those prices.

Go to Dr Sunil in On Nut. Good advice and reasonable price. Had work done 15 years ago still no problems.

With bone grafts and other things I have known people taking over a year for completion. But you will have a wonderful smile in your coffin

I think you're forgetting that materials like titanium are used in most implants. Titanium costs a lot more than 350 baht.

 

While you can save on labor costs in Thailand, titanium, like gold, is pretty much the same price worldwide i.e. expensive.

I'm 79 right now, and about three years ago, I considered getting complete, full dental implants. When I went in to the dentist, I was told I didn't need total implants, and ended up getting an upper and lower set of false teeth, I still have about four teeth on the top and four on the bottom. This has worked out well for me. The whole think only cost me about 20K baht.

But, to answer you're question, yes, I would consider getting full dental implants here I Thailand if that were necessary.

Are you sure you can get it done? I doubt it myself.  Have you checked with a reputable organisation like the BPH dental department. If they say its doable then sure, go ahead.

Just had one done, top quality Swiss stuff and bone graft for 180k (I paid only 25% of that). Did it because I still have all my teeth (less one wisdom tooth) and was worried about unsettling everything by leaving an upper premolar gap. I am 72 and I doubt I would have done it when 3 or 4 years older, unlikely I'll be around much beyond that.

 

But the implant is amazing, zero pain and feels like a natural tooth.

Titanium plate stands at about $10 USD per kg today.  (FOB China) That's 340 baht per kg.  What does an implant weigh?

 

 

Without teeth you got many Advantages. No toothpaste, no toothbrush anymore. Imagine what you can save 😂

At 78 I wouldn’t bother as you said you could croak it tomorrow I had all my teeth out then Covid arrived so I lived with no teeth for two years the plan was to have implants in the end I had the same thought as you as I’m in my 70s instead I had dentures cost me 20,000 baht if im

honest I don’t wear that much even when I go out it’s what you feel comfortable with implants are not cheap in Thailand !  The dentures I had made do not have an upper pallet as I have a gag issue or did have but had a course of acupuncture and no more gagging  so my upper denture is the same as the lower I use a denture glue/ sealer and they stay in for a good 12 hours my dentist suggested it on the provision if I couldn’t keep the top in I could have four upper rods that would keep them in I think the cost quoted just for the uppers was around 140,000 baht

I was 53 when I decided to work an extra year to do a full mouth restoration (5 implants & untold crowns & veneers) cost me 650,000 THB… best decision I ever made. 
 

As long as you’re taking care of your family, spend your money on making you happy… 78 is still young 😊
