Transgender Swimmer Ana Caldas Sweeps Five Events at National Meet, Sparks Backlash

 

Transgender swimmer Ana Caldas claimed five major victories at the U.S. Masters Swimming Spring National Championship held in San Antonio, Texas, last weekend, triggering a wave of controversy from women's sports advocates and activists. Caldas, who competed in the women’s 45-49 age group, won all five individual events she entered — doing so by margins that critics described as “unheard of” in competitive swimming.

“He won them all,” tweeted Riley Gaines, a former collegiate swimming champion and vocal women’s rights activist, pointedly refusing to acknowledge Caldas’ preferred pronouns. “Real-life South Park episode,” Gaines added, referencing the satirical cartoon that has previously mocked issues around gender in sports.

 

 

Beth Bourne, another outspoken activist, called the results “insanity,” emphasizing just how rare such margins are in top-level sprint events. “Anyone who competes in swimming at the national level knows this is unheard of in a 50-yard race where wins are often measured in a tenth or a hundredth of a second,” Bourne posted on X.

 

Further backlash came from the Independent Council on Women’s Sports, which questioned the legitimacy of Caldas’ participation in the women’s division. A spokesperson for the organization, speaking to Reduxx, expressed frustration and disbelief over the results. “He’s just laughing at these women,” the spokesperson stated, echoing a sentiment shared by many critics who argue that transgender women retain a biological advantage over female athletes.

 

Ana Caldas’ wins have reignited the ongoing debate about fairness and inclusion in women’s sports. Supporters of transgender athletes argue for the importance of inclusivity and respect for gender identity, while opponents argue that allowing transgender women to compete in female categories undermines fairness and equal opportunity for cisgender women.

The other REAL women should make a stand and refuse to compete against men. This madness would end tomorrow.

I've always said , the real women in the race should all stand down and refuse to race in these events . Show a bit of solidarity Ladies.

I should have thought about this when I was in my 40's. I could have let my hair grow, put on lipstick, called my self Louise and won all the Olympic Woman's weightlifting events.

Amazing you show this opinion. Perhaps one of the rare instances I agree with you. This MAN, albeit a wannabe woman, should never have been permitted to compete against other women. He has a clear and even visible advantage. They need to ban them and make an inclusive LGBT+++ sports events rather than allowing them to compete against real men and women thus giving them the advantage.

Transgenders should be banned from women's sport due to their unfair strength advantages.

 

The only way to get around this to maybe satisfy the woke and remoove that physical advantage, would be to have extra gender competitions / races for trans women and trans men. Let trans women compete against only other trans women. 

 

Take away his hormone supplements for  a month or two, then tell me it is still a woman.

I wonder how progressive liberal women who actually have a female child explain it to their kids and teen-aged daughters?

Well remember what happened to  Stephanie Turner, the fencer who refused to compete against a trans, she got booted out!

 

Until sports authorities grow a backbone and just say no this lunacy and ignore of the inevitable hate mail they will get, this nonsense won't stop

 

I think society is past caring about gay men and women competing in sports of their sex, which is of course why we have sports for men and women, not unisex sports

Just because I think nay know trump is a threat to democracy a criminal and the most unamerican president ever doesn’t change my core values and I do believe homosexuals should have equal rights and protections but a dudes a dude and a gal is a gal what they practice in the bedroom is not my concern.
