Brawls like this in Pattaya used to be rarer than virgins in a beer-bar.  The recent influx of the MMA/MuayThai wanna-be's seems to have kicked the testosterone level of Pattaya sois up a couple of levels.

For sure. And this increase is not just  about online news reports. Because online news is not new. Most definitely a common profile here as is seen everywhere these days. But  some of the fighters are only a fraction this assorted lowlife crowd and counting.  Testosterone ?Guys at that hour used  to be with their long times ??

Much relieved to see that I have naught to worry about.  I'm asnooze at that hour nowadays.  Back when I was working in LOS, I was often on my way to the office at 4:20.  (Home office was in US Central time zone.)  But not no more.

It was fascinating, walking through Bangkok's Soi Cowboy at that hour even when bars were supposed to close at 2:00, wondering if the drunk guys who were being attended by the local talent would wake up with their wallets and organs intact.  I imagine it's much the same in Pattaya...

I wonder if they've ever checked to see what percentage of the "problem" tourists are on ED visas or DTVs based on studying Muay Thai?

Of course, they'd never be able to eliminate the visa exempts that are in LOS for Muay Thai, but they may want to consider the balance between costs and benefits of offering long term stays to learn to beat the crap out of people.

A violent altercation between two groups of foreign tourists broke out in the early hours of the morning in the heart of Pattaya, leaving three individuals injured and the assailants on the run.

At approximately 04:20 on 5 May,officers from Pattaya City Police Station received a report of a street fight involving foreigners outside a bar on Soi Chalermprakiat 25, Pattaya City. Emergency responders from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation and local patrol officers were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, responders discovered three foreign men with injuries, including bruises and contusions. However, the injured parties refused first aid treatment and declined to cooperate with officials. All three were taken to Pattaya Police Station for further questioning, but as of this report, they remain unwilling to provide statements or details about the incident.

A nearby motorcycle taxi driver who witnessed the event told police that two rival groups of foreigners had engaged in a heated argument which quickly escalated into a violent street brawl. One man was seen being beaten until he collapsed. The opposing group, believed to be the aggressors, fled the scene before police arrived.

Pattaya police are currently gathering evidence and reviewing CCTV footage in the area in a bid to identify and apprehend those responsible. Authorities have urged any witnesses to come forward as investigations continue.

No arrests have yet been made or details of nationalities involved, as the investigation is ongoing.

I am truly sad to read about things like this happening almost on a daily basis. Apparently Thailand attracts all kinds of trash. I apologize for all my fellow citizens of the world with such small brains and no way to control themselves.

Pattaya & Phuket, once nice places to visit... now, not so much

I'm guessing you don't realize that 99% of all the crime here is still by locals? That foreigners get in the news is because we are the minority, and the daily crime happening here since time began has been accepted as normal, happening over and over because of a lack of enforcement and proper punishment, especially among the very young crowd who are most of the times immune to punishment. Do you apologize for all the local crime that happens?

Tattoos again, the mark of the yob

Do you realize there are probably hundreds of AN members here that also have tattoos? Do you also realize that much of crime, especially white collar, is done by those without tattoos?

First Freddy, I have to ask, because as soon as I post something you are there like glue stick on paper. Do you have a thing for me? Should we exchange phone numbers?

After that, yes, of course I realize that about 150k foreigners can not have a crime rate percentage over a population of roughly 70M. You don´t need to be a genius to grasp that, right Freddy?

I can also see that you clearly understand, as everybody else here, that the reason is lack of enforcement. I give you 5 point for that awesome reflection.

Now, we come to the core of your reply. That is you question if I apologize for the locals committing crimes? What a weird question. Why would I do that? Do I belong to that group? Does it reflect on me as a foreigner if locals break the law, behave bad or can´t keep it together? The answer, Freddy, is a big fat NO! However, if you look at the daily amount of bad publicity from foreigners in the news, that is not because we are a singled out minority.

It´s because the news should make the locals vigilante in reporting and give them knowledge of bad behavior from tourists and expats. As that is happening, it brings us as a group in a bad light. That´s the people I apologized for, as they lack the brains to do it themselves.

Once upon a time foreigners in Thailand, while enjoying the nightlife, were mostly well educated and well behaved.

Jetstar & budget airlines have put paid to that

Budget airlines,

budget brains,

budget behaviours
