I think it's kind of stigmatizing. Do they require this to buy beer?

Just because you think there is "zero comparison" doesn't mean there is no comparison.

1) Not everybody becomes belligerent and hostile while drunk. Some just go to sleep and become very tired and docile.

2) Not everybody becomes completely docile while high either. Some become extremely paranoid and act on the delusions.

People become addicted to THC period. It is no accident there is MA. Marijuana Anonymous and it has a global fellowship.

There are laws to prohibit people from driving under the influence of THC for good reason.

Pot users are getting the standard azz whooping from the drug dealers profiteer play book.

1) Get it out there cheap and easy and get them hooked

2) start driving up the price

3) make em' jump through more hoops and start taxing them addicts

4) Police get involved making extra tea money on arrests.

Drug addicts get suckered again.

Thailand is just running the drug pushers profiteer playbook game on they azz.

I’m sure a 500 baht fee will resolve the issue of certificates, just as it does for driving licence medical certificates

You pay 500 baht for a driver's license medical certificate? The last one I did wad 100,

So is alcohol, anyway he was talking about addicts.

Yea, there are plenty of people with cannabis addiction, quite a few of them in Thailand. They are - in affect - drug addicts.

There isn't a Marijuana Anonymous Organization for nothing.

https://marijuana-anonymous.org/

It is an addictive drug that has become a problem for a great many people.

Keep going so we can all keep laughing.

Try a few puffs with your drink of choice. You're welcome.

I don't smoke weed or cigarettes, I used to do both, I have done and occasionally do recreational drugs, and i drink alcohol when meeting friends when going out.

Not addicted to anything but I do know how things work, the comment I replied to was ridiculous.

It's only a proposal, no matter what the clickbait title says.

Now where's my coffee/tea/paracetamol?

You know, I think you are right. It was only 100, maybe 200, last time I got one.

I guess I was postulating that some kind of “fee” will mean that a medical certificate for cannabis use will be ridiculously easy to obtain

Thailand's official stance has always emphasized medical and health-related use, even during the liberalization wave. Recreational use has never been formally legalized, though it was de facto tolerated for a brief period due to legal loopholes.

100% correct

Once deregulated completely.

And then, made illegal again(use without permission subject to arrest).

Will Thai jails be full of "new offenders"?

Always was for medicinal purposes.

The problem with getting a medical certificate is your passport details are copied. Ain't no way your average tourist is going to sign up for that just to have a dabble.

Quite possibly. On the other hand, I can see these certificates being printed off and handed out by the cannabis shops themselves. Just to keep up appearances.

Who’s going to check? BIB? Maybe once in a while they will do a crackdown and some poor unfortunate will get fined. But rigorously apply a system of regulation?  Haven’t seen it happen in respect of anything else and can’t see it happening with this.

i’m agog waiting to see if it actually happens 😂

you are correct that there are always exceptions but i will stand by the fact that alcohol has always caused way more problems than ganja worldwide.

You say that it is a "fact" that pot has created less problems. Where are you getting your statistics? Show me some actual stats. Who has been measuring this "fact"

Or is this fact, actually your OPINION?

Now I am reasonable, show me some stats from an actual verified study and I'll go along with it.

a 5 second google search of which causes more problems worldwide alcholol or pot will give you all the links that i can't post with cut and paste...links give u all kinds of studies stats etc...

Alcohol:
  • Higher risk of overdose: Alcohol overdose can lead to coma and death, while marijuana overdose is extremely rare.

  • More deaths: Alcohol is linked to 88,000 deaths per year in the U.S.

  • More chronic health problems: Alcohol is a major factor in liver disease, heart disease, and certain cancers.

  • Higher risk of accidents: Drunk driving and alcohol-related falls contribute to many accidents.

  • More social harm: Alcohol use is linked to more violence, family issues, and job problems.

Marijuana:
  • Lower risk of overdose: A marijuana overdose is extremely unlikely and not fatal.

  • Fewer chronic health problems: While marijuana use can negatively impact the lungs and heart, these risks are generally less severe than those associated with alcohol.

  • Less social harm: While marijuana use can impair judgment and coordination, it's less likely to lead to the same level of violence, accidents, or other social problems as alcohol.

No one has died of a cannabis overdose, same cant be said about alcohol.

Got a source for that ?
Theres no way that came from America, they don't have studies long enough to prove that

Are you sure about that.. No facts or studies.. just  your opinion then.

Get high and dream up another BS "fact" LOL!! Your pot delusions have you thinking you are some kind of "fact" machine. hahaha

In all seriousness, people HAVE DIED from use of Cannabis. What about the suicide attempts from delusions and mental illness as a result of Cannabis an THC use?

Hey, wake up from your wake and bake life and understand this:  Just because YOU have not experienced problems with use of THC/Weed/ Cannabis use doesn't mean there are a hell of a lot of other people who have.

MA or marijuana anonymous is just like AA for alcoholics.  MA is a well attended fellowship of people who became addicted to weed. It caused them big problems and they use the AA program (adopted for MA) to get out from under the problem. It's not a small deal dude. It's a big problem for a lot of people.

Again, just because you don't have a problem .. yet. Doesn't mean others can't have one.
